Default Website strategy advise?

I have two websites that rank on the first page of Google for keywords conference planning and kitchen sales (additional keywords also). I have placed Google ads on the sites but not getting many clicks (<10 per month).

Does any one have advice on how to monetize the sites beyond ads or maybe ideas on doing something completely different with the sites? URLs below.

Hi mate,

I can give you some feedback mainly from a design perspective that might help boost your conversion rate:
  • Your google ads can be themed with colour (and font I think) so they blend in with your site and look like part of the content
  • You need an active main headline that instantly tells people what they can get from you, e.g. "Make you conference organising easy"
  • There is too much clutter - text everywhere. Give your site some breathing space by using a two column layout instead of three
  • In the main body have one article per line, instead of using two columns and two articles
  • Make article headings bigger and easier to read.
  • Use an image in each article. It'll add interest to your site, and images draw the eye.
  • Calls to action should really stand out. I'd personally use a more contrasting colour than green for links.
  • Highlight keywords that readers are looking for. They'll scan the page and stop when they see them.
  • Tone down the number of links you're using. It's confusing - a reader won't know where to look first or click.
  • Try adding a logo to your site to make it more professional. Readers will trust a site that looks legitimate.

Your second page is a lot better than the first in terms of layout. Just don't clutter it! You're definitely getting there though!

I'm sure the internet marketers in the forum can give you more advice too

You have already gone through all the work to writing reviews for conference call equipment, services, and software become an affiliate and SELL. Now when someone comes onto your site looking to find out what equipment is needed for web-based video conferencing they read your article they realize they have everything but the software. This is where you come in an add a product recommendation for video conferencing software, the visitor clicks the link makes the purchase, and you earn a commission. You are already doing the work now tell me WHAT to buy and make sure your affiliating it.

This can also apply to your second site.

The big affiliate sites are commission junction(also known as CJ), shareasale, google affiliate network, and amazon associates.

Hi richsoon,

It seems to me that you are targeting very low traffic keywords. You didn't mention how much traffic you get for those terms. If you are only getting 50-70 targeted visitors then 10 clicks is pretty good for that amount of traffic.

For example, your page is at position #7 for the term "kitchen sales". That term gets about 260 searches per month, locally. That should net you less than ten visitors a month from that keyword. How many clicks would you expect from that much traffic?

That might be the issue. Have to agree, if you target keywords with low search volume, even if you rank on stop number 1, it won´t make you a fortune.

It´s not getting searched enough to make some decent money out of this keyword.

But what you can do is write more blog posts on different keywords which are related to your main site. This would be a way to use the same page, and drive targeted traffic to it.

Make sure to go with keywords that get at least a few thousand searches per month. Even if it takes you several weeks to rank your site for this keyword, the pay off will be multiple times higher, so you´ll earn more residual income.
