Default How do you cover your SEO tracks?

Hey everyone

I've got a quick question for you.

When I'm creating a seo strategy for clients what's the best way to stop competitors re engineering what I've done to get results??

Really would appreciate some good ideas here...

Thanks

I don't think there's anyway to really stop it. They can use SEO Spyglass like everyone else.

If your strategy is diverse enough - they'll never know everything you're doing. Most people blindly believe what their seo tools tell them and NONE of them are completely accurate.

The way I like to do things is to create a network of supporting sites that feed my sites and that are widely diverse in location and subject and that only allow my links to carry any weight. So even if competitors can see where my links come from - they can't get links from there themselves.

This is why as an seo service provider I can offer unique value - because I have access to my own network of sites that only I can get full value from.

to be honest it is unlikely anybody is going to research your strategy in depth purely for the purpose of trying to copy from it. the most they can do is use Yahoo to examine backlinks but as has already been said, this still isn't an accurate account of what's really going on.

if the SEO approach is intelligent and includes great content generation and even production of linkbait, it is HIGHLY unlikely that your competitor will be able to copy this strategy to any real success. If they are able to deploy a strategy this complex, they won't be looking to you for direction in the first place, so I would not worry

Thanks Matt

That makes total sense!

When you say "linkbait" what do you mean?
