What exactly is pinging or to ping?

Just want to know exactly what to ping or pinging means...
I know how to do it, but I dont know exactly what it is I am doing. Can someone explain in everyday terms?

It is a technology that notifies "ping servers" that you have published new content. Those ping servers can be queried by anyone interested to see what is newly published, used by blog search engines to locate new blog content.

“pinging” is actually a method of announcing people about your current post - either blog, articles, or press releases.

It is a way of letting people know about your newest post, either a blog, website, articles and any others. It is also the best way to get backlinks indexed.

Sorry, but I must call you out on this post.

First your answer isn't accurate. Pinging doesn't announce to "people", it notifies a ping server. Last I checked, a ping server isn't a "people".

Normally I'd overlook a small inaccuracy like that, but it was a clue to me that you may not have actually read the thread, since the question had already been answered and the OP had acknowledged. This prompted me to look at your other posts on this forum and what do you think I found?

Yep, I found a consistent pattern of generic, mostly 1 or 2 sentence answers that added no real value and often seem to indicate you never actually read a single word of the thread. It's as if you are replying to the headline with the least amount of effort possible.

I'm calling you out because this is the exact behavior you would expect from a spambot. Even if you are human, you are still acting as a robot in your systematic approach to polluting this forum with what amounts to web spam. Please don't post unless you are human and want to participate in a discussion. You can start by a reply to this post.
