Is there any empirical evidence that more outbound links from a page causes less link juice to be given to each individual link? For example, if I was able to get a blogroll backlink on a high-PR homepage, would it be worth it if that page already had alot of outbound links?

a link from a blogroll won't have the same "link juice" as a contextual link from an article or content page according to my research...primarily because blogroll links can be easy to get compared to contextual back links. as for 'empirical evidence" I haven't seen any proof except in the google SEO guide which states that pages should be limited to 100 outbound links, so I reckon as long as you get a backlink from a page with less than 100 outbound inks, that link will still carry value... |

You can have as many as you can stuff. But, 100 is a good number tossed around by google to keep the user experience better. No penalty. Theoretically, if a PR8 website had 100 links on it, each link would get 1/100th of the PR8 passed to it. Google does value contextual links, but I think this more relates to giving your link relevancy, not PR. The more relative links, the better in the long run. Paul |
