PPC Budget For Listbuilding

Hey Guys and Gals! I've posted this question in the wrong forum. Someone recommended I would get more answers here. So here goes.

I am currently trying to build a list using ppc a traffic for the first time. My questions is:

1. How much should I spend per click for leads? Is 10 cents to 15 cents per click good or should I spend just enough to give me the 5ht-8th position?

2. Also, should I display my ads on search network, the content network or both? My budget is 30-40 dollars total per day on ads.

1. I suggest you figure how much you will be able to monetize per subscriber. To simplify, you are buying low and selling high, but how can you tell what's low unless you define high.

2. I suggest you test with both and weed out the low performers.

Targeting by position is one of the biggest flaws you will ever make when you run a ppc campaign. The only way you can make decisions on bids is by getting some clicks, generating some data & then you optimize at keyword level. Some keyword might work very well for you & it may make sense to be in the top 3, others might be awful & you should allow them to drop off the page etc.

$30-40 is a decent budget to start out with, I would recommend starting with reasonable sized bids set at ad group level that will allow you to gather some data quickly.

It is becoming more important than ever to get a good click through rate, particularly at the beginning of your campaign so you can get a decent quality score. Obviously if you are sitting in position 5 or 6 you are gonna get a lot of impressions but few clicks, which will make your keyword look shabby in Googles eyes.

I would recommend when starting a campaign you should only be using Search not display. When you have more data and know what keywords work for you then you should give the display network a shot.

Thanks for the info. What keyword tracking software do you recommend i use to track my keywords??

I am assuming when you talk about PPC your are referring to Adwords. If so your adwords interface tracks all your keywords for you. You should get Google analytics tracking on your site too though because it allows you to dig much deeper into your data and create quality segments for analysis.
