I think you have asked for link exchange. It works as you get back links from those websites too. When you try that link exchange try with text based ads. So you get your back links counted in the search engines.

Traffic exchanges still work, but you have to be careful.

  • Only trade links with related sites. Even if a site has a much higher PageRank if it's not relevant it doesn't help SEO much.
  • Don't expect a lot of traffic. Most link exchanges don't bring tons of traffic, its "featured links" from large sites that bring the most hits.
  • Honor your exchanges. I used to run a link trade network years ago and 90% of the people removed their links within a month ("site redesign, etc."). If you do an exchange with someone keep their link up, and check for your link frequently.

no, i wasnt talking about link exchange but traffic exchanges. You know like traffic surfs or easyhits4u, stuff like that where you get credits for traffic.

That's an entirely different beast. I generally avoid these programs because of their potential for abuse. Many people load your site in a 1px iframe and things like that to rack up points to bring traffic to their own site. I would advise against it.

Most of them are pretty useless.. one that I've found to actually work is LinkReferral (yes, it's traffic exchange, not link exchange).. but you have to look at and review other peoples' sites daily to get yours seen. But if you put in the effort daily, it can bring some decent targeted traffic.
