You may be social bookmarking, but are you CROSS MARKING your online favorites? I had this idea when I was in an online social bookmarking frenzy, and whilst it probably isn't anything too new, a lot of people probably AREN'T using this technique, because it takes a bit of extra work to get results... Basically, I tried this on a site selling an ebook and it increased sales and subscribers by about 200% (so where I was receiving 5 subscibers per day - no adwords, just natural SE visitors), I started receiving 20 subscribers per day and more weekly ebook sales, not to mention the rapidly growing list. In fact a recent campaign brought in $3000 easily in 7 emails about a product launch. First stop: SOCIALMARKER.COM I use firefox whilst using this great site submitter. It is best if you can write an individual comment for each submission but you can use the same - this submission site (it's free) is built for that. There are about 45 different sites, I use all of them. It takes about 10-15 minutes for a basic submit without changing anything in the submissions. Now you can do that for any site, page or article, but here's something else you can do... On Del.Icio.Us, go to your favorites page and copy the URL of all your favorites. Here is mine for example - just the one URL: http://delicious.com/samuk1000 Now save your del.icio.us favorites as a bookmark in itself on all the other sites. Can you see how it will build a network of links and traffic? You are "cross-pollinating" all your online bookmarking profiles. It worked for me, just this one technique. If you have an extra 1 hour for marketing, you might want to apply this and see your traffic (and profits) soar. Make sure you check your traffic NOW and then in 2 weeks or a months time after doing this to measure any results. If it is effective, you may want to repeat it, if not you can drop it. Either way you will have learned something. Best, Sam |

Out of curiosity, when you do your social bookmarking are you just posting a single link on each bookmarking site, multiple links to your own stuff or multiple links to your stuff AND other peoples stuff? I've heard each of the three ways being brought up from time to time and was wondering your specific method? |

Hi Schabotte. About a link to a different page or related domain per week on all sites, then after 1 month of that, posting the link to my set of links on another bookmarking site to each site, so for example, my MisterWong page has a bookmark to my delicious.com page which has all my links on it etc etc. Yes, I will bookmark a good site I come across or need to visit for whatever reason about 1 in 4 times I use socialmarker.com That is what online social bookmarking is for remember - it is not for marketing - it is for saving your bookmarks. So that is what it should be used for really.

This is how I understand it: For example, you've got you're bookmarks at del.icio.us. You take the link of your del.icio.us page and bookmark THAT at social bookmarking sites. Is that what you're implying? |

Wow that is quite a tangled web of cross linking there. I actually do something quite similar with RSS feeds.

Amy are you going to leave us hanging on the thread with that? Is this a hint at a WSO? Want to explain yourself? It seems you have some information you have chosen not to divulge...I'll resist the urge to beg like a yapping dog...

what I meant is that per his automated activity timestamp he hasn't visited the forum if you visit his profile he hasn't been on since the 1st week of 2011. It's an automated timestamp, so he's not in control of it, if he visits the forum, the system places the latest date of "activity", hence my use of the term "active." And it doesn't necessarily have to be him, but anyone who has used this or a similar method. anyone have any pertinent/relevant feedback or comments regarding his method? |

Well... it works... Think about the concept, not really much you can disagree with. Just like a powerful linkwheel.. it works you just have to do it right.

thanks nameless, I had a cursory understanding that google penalizes linkwheels? I honestly didn't realize this was considered a linkwheel, if in fact it is. any feedback on either point? (whether it's a linkwheel or the OP's method) thanks warrior matties! Dano~ |

If you want to do a link wheel, it is entirely possible to do it without a slap on the wrist. If you are afraid of it, just be a bit clever about it. Instead of one site linking to another, then to another then to another, you need to split it up into a more random pattern. You can do link wheels inside a link wheel and then link wheel press releases as well as articles! You just have to plan it out ahead of time or else it will be very confusing! | |

hey nameless, was johny's post important when he says you can't use tags anymore? me being so noob, I don't know my thinking is that is you can bookmark a fav in delich(making a list like the OP had), then what value is a tag in that context? thanks Dano~ "ayyyye matties!" |
