I have seen several sites, usually just blog post from a review site, rank at the top for popular keywords and they don't even have the keyword in their domain name. How is this possible? #1 rule we all learn in seo is get the keyword you want to rank for in your domain, but so many sites are ranking for the keywords and the main page on their site really has nothing to do with that keyword. I don't get it. Please tell me, How do they do this and How can I do it to. Then I won't have to buy so many freakin domain names. Thanks. |

They most probably are building links with that keyword as the anchor. Also the blog post that is ranking would most probably be really well written informative content that is relevant to the keyword and original. That usually helps the most.

You can pretty much get any site to rank for any keyword eventually, regardless of the domain name. Using the domain name is just one strategy to help you rank organically but not the only determining factor on weather or not you can rank for a particular phrase.

What if I haven't used keywords in body but I have used in only Title, would I be able to optimize for that keyword?

It shows the power of off-page SEO (especially link building with anchor text) search "click here" in Google, adobe.com will come first. . . . That’s because people tend to say “Click here to download Acrobat Reader” and links only the “click here” text. |

I think most people would be surprised by what google thinks their site is about. Google in many instances puts two and two together, and comes up with sites it believes you want. This is a rare, but more common than people realize. It's more likely to happen to an authority site. Mu favorite example is rod iron. Google knows what you want. Or believes it does, so... just do a search for rod iron. Paul |

Yeah the domain helps but as long as you have anchored backlinks with the keyword you should be able to rank for any keyword.
