Default keyword research - pro filters - digging techniques - analysis + tips

Once you obtain a large database of keywords of interest to you, where would you take the information from there?

Personally I prefer to instantly get rid of anything with out steady monthly search volume (local search trends), of course in some situations i.e looking for keywords in the uk that would be a different situation..

but would you say that the global monthly search volume is a reliable number to sort by? or more so a local monthly search volume?

Any other techinical tips or tricks that you prefer or would like to acknowledge?

Its really late for me here in the US, but i just figured i could exchange some ideas with whoever is willing. The arguments shall be significantly more sufficient tomorrow.
