Post Ranking from 2 to 137...

One of our corporate websites was ranking #2 for a well searched-for keyword.
The website used a dynamic news section which picked up a feed from a blog using VB, unfortunatley something went wrong when a new blog was added causing our website to 404 on every single page of the website, this happened on the Friday and wasn't repaired until the Monday following - since this error we noticed our ranking was down to #137! - is there anything we can do to gain our position back or will we just have to wait for Google to realise it's working again; or, could this just be a coincidence?

Thanks!
