Google Webmaster Tools Reports HUGE INCREASE in Pages Crawled

Hey guys,
I logged into my google webmaster tools throughout the past week, and noticed under my crawl stats that my "pages crawled per day" has shown a huge increase.

I recently (about 2 weeks ago), started a pretty big backlinking campaign, and am wondering if that has anything to do with it?

I have also noticed a pretty big reduction in many of the keywords I am ranking for. Is this a result of the link building campaign or what?

Any suggestions?
