Short Term SEO strategies for Events

Can anyone point me to a some good resources on "short term SEO" strategies? I'm trying to promote a ticket website and I'm thinking it will be easier to rank for search terms like "2011 Phillies Tickets" as opposed to just "Phillies Tickets" etc. Or there must be some different strategies to rank well for a keyword based on an "event" that's only a few weeks away? Anyway, any good resources or tips/pointers appreciated on how to approach SEO in this way?

IF the keywords you want to rank for have none or really low competition, probably you can rank for them fast - keep that in mind, and save some money.

And another thing, you can use to your advantage Google's QDF Query Deserves Freshness. Read the article and see if it serves your purposes.

Generate quick traffic....? hmm well i would start off by researching keywords on google keyword traffic tool and see which keywords have low competition and get alot of trafic, then i would pick a domain name with that keyword and then target that keyword in seo.

Be careful with SEO tactics that promise very quick results, recent changes particularly with Google have moved the game on a little ;-)

SEO takes time, doesn't have to be months if you go after the right keywords but it won't usually bring stable results in a matter of days particularly if the site is fairly new.

Varied link patterns, natural and consistent is usually what brings results unless you've got a large budget then you can use more aggressive tactics.

Would it be outrageous to recommend a responsible use of black hat seo techniques? Quickly spam yourself to the top, and then your page will just as quickly get rid of itself
