Many people say: Google loves Wordpress blogs and having such a blog allows to get better ranking than with a standard website. I'm wondering, is this really true or just a myth? What are your thoughts on this? If I would compare 2 sites that are ABSOLUTELY equal in terms of on-page & off-page optimization, in terms of content quality & quantity... So, the only difference would be the way these 2 sites are coded: Wordpress: Using php - which can be a bit slow, but provides very clean code without frames, complicated <tables>, large amounts of javascript... A standard site: Using good coding practices, css & html (again, without any frames, complicated <tables>, large amounts of javascript...) - this site (hosted on the same server) would definitely be faster than a Wordpress site. Now, when I compare these 2 sites (with the exact same SEO), would Google still favor the Wordpress blog (and let's assume, there are no user comments on the wordpress blog and the content on both sites is equal in terms of quality, quantity and on-page SEO))??? Logic tells me that Google should favor site #2 (the standard site) in this example, because it loads faster. But maybe Google's algorithm applies some sort of "ranking bonus points" to all blog sites - who knows??? What do you think? Please let me hear your thoughts. |

There's no truth to this. Wordpress sites generally do well since much of the on page SEO factors are optimized and Google is familiar with the site structure and knows how to crawl these sites, thereby making it easier to ensure that all pages are indexed as quickly as possible. The factors you're citing there are so minimal to begin with that they wouldn't make a difference. If a site is well optimized using XSitePro, FrontPage, or any other framework, it doesn't make a lick of a difference as long as good on-page practices are instilled. I can speak from experience, having launched sites in many different formats. |

stick to the principles of SEO and you can rank with or without wordpress sites. But it's not all that easy, I would spend over 100 hours a month implementing SEO to be safe ![]() I don't know if its so much a myth but wordpress sites are made friendly for seo in the first place. |

Thanks for your quick reply. What you are saying makes absolutely sense and it confirms what I thought.
