How do I Ping my backlinks?

Hi, I have heard that I should ping all my backlinks. I'm not sure where I should do this. And how often should I ping my website itself? Or does that happen automatically on a wordpress site? Thanks for your help.

When you create a blog post, if you have things setup correctly, you should be automatically pinging a list of services. Hope this helps.

Just let the pinging happen when a new update or content insertion is played.

Don't ever ping your website. If you want to "ping" something - use your articles or backlinks to create RSS feeds and then ping those feeds.

Pinging your website is kind of pointless - if you have any sort of backlinks pointing to your website, it will get crawled regularly, so why ping...

I have also noticed my websites (sometimes) going for a massive (and pointless) Google dance after pinging.

Pinging your backlinks on the other hand gets them crawled and sometimes indexed (but it isn't very effective).

Pinging is a good way, but it's always not enough if you want to speed up the backlink indexing...

Go to Icerocket and make your backlink pages into RSS feed and submit to RSS directories...

You can simply mix and match your backlink pages to many RSS feeds...

To Ping or Not to Ping! I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread. I have been wondering this myself for a few weeks now!

I've read so many mixed views on the effectiveness and process of pinging. I feel, if it's there, why not use it, as long as it won't hurt?? On the other hand, I've yet to read about the safe number of backlink pings one should be doing. If I have 25 articles submitted in a day, can I mass-ping those immediately? And, if I have 25 more articles submitted the next day, is it safe to mass-ping those immediately?

Regarding forum profile backlinks - Can those be pinged also and how many per day/time?

Besides pingomatic.com and pingdevice.com, what others have anyone tried with success?

Some are saying to not ping articles/profile links/blog comments, but to grab the RSS feeds and ping those. Aren't you basically pinging the sites feed and not the page where your comment or profile link sits? How does that work? ..... If anyone has the time to explain....

And one more thing, , Can you do both for the same link?

I have just logged in linklicius but i cannot load my links for pinging them. I have joined for free service and it comes with the addlinks option. Now I have to spend more times to understand the working on pinging.

Pinging doesn't really work for this stuff anymore. Indexing numbers are under 2-3% when using profile backlinks. They get crawled, but not indexed.

for me I use tom's backlink booster to ping and rss all my backlinks automatically. If you only have a small list of backlinks den just use pingomatic or pingler is enough

It's really easy - just paste in your links and click submit. Then it'll drip out your links over time. You control your drip rate based upon the feed size and schedule.

Note that the free service pings the feeds but not the links inside the feeds. We find that Google will only crawl ~5% of the feed links naturally. If you want to get 100% crawls just use the cheap basic service. For that we ping until you get crawled.
