Let's say I have a domain www.yourdomain.com.. and the site is #1 in google and getting great traffic, the site consists of multiple articles, but really only 4 out of about 60 articles are pulling in the traffic and really only 1 of those is doing the heavy lifting. I want to re-purpose the site as a product review site(amazon), but don't want to impact my rankings due the on-page SEO changing.. because the theme I am going to use is designed to show review snippets on the front page for multiple products and currently my home page has 500 words and optimized through and through for its keyword. so what's the best way to tackle this? a.) don't worry about it, get the review template up and within the snippets/excerpts for each product that will show on the home page, make sure the keyword is prevalent and if it is you should be ok with maintaining the rankings(I am sure there will be some dancing) b.) Keep wordpress as is, but keep the 4 main articles and create a sub directory called reviews.. so now the url looks like www.yourdomain.com/reviews and installed an instance of wordpress under /reviews/, then install the review theme and do the reviews that way, place a link on www.yourdomain.com called "reviews" linking to www.yourdomain/reviews c.) choose another exact match domain, install wordpress, setup the review site, place a link to yourdomain.com to thenewdomainwithreviews.com and call it a day? cheers, ej |

Could you make a standalone review site and do the same things that got your other site to #1? is there no way to monetize the traffic from the first site? |

I think I could to a standalone review site, it'll just take some time with a new domain to get its rankings, whereas I already have this domain that's 15 months old and I can be a lot more aggressive with backlinking. I currently have the site monetized with Adsense and although not bad earnings at all, I have tested a few amazon products and have done very well, so I think a combination of amazon + adsense = nice payday! But feel its time to make this into a full-on review site(with adsense in select places), right now this is just a content site with articles and adsense.

I enable multisites on wordpress, so I can make a new install of wordpress in 1 second. site.com/reviewblog/ so the directory becomes a whole new wordpress install an can change themes to what ever. I then link from home blog to the subdirectories from side bar or in the menu bar so pass some authority from home blog which helps the subs rank faster from the authority the domain carries. edit:*I am sleepy an may not have understood your question http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutoria...wordpress-3-0/ google: wordpress multisites |

Hi ej, If you are in a very good market with lots of buyers, I suggest you go for option 3. There will likely be a chance that both of your sites can rank for multiple targeted keywords. Just my two cents. |

Great question EJ, will you be using CE4 with this new site? Quote:
If you only have one page that's carrying the weight, out of over 60 articles, and hopefully that page is your home page, then just pull the other articles off the site and micro niche what's left around the home page content. Then, take those other 50 or so articles and build a silo site like you are proposing, making sure to create your category landing pages with fully SEO'd content so that they become your primary money pages. You can take your best article from each category and make it your category landing page, and since I'm presuming you are using CE4 for the new site, it will list those category articles at the bottom of the category landing page so that each of them will be getting clicks off the highly ranked category landing page. PS: Assuming you'll be using your XFactored 2.0 template for the new silo site?

I hope you are doing well! Your CE4 update rocks, thanks!I am definitely using CE4 on the domain right now. As far as the second domain which I will link to (link will be called "reviews"), I think I will use a review template I found here on WF - WP Review Theme from Colleen. Does that make sense? I took a look at theteareport.com, but unless that can do a review style like Colleen's theme, I will have to wait until I get more into Authority sites down the road here.

Shoot me an email with some info on what your site needs to look like and I can offer some suggestions. To get a better feel for what your site should look like in the XF2 template when fully rocked and silo'd with categories, check out some of my latest posts on clickbump.com, and specifically here > High Ranking Authority Sites with WordPress & CE4*|*clickbump.com
