Default How much you depend on Google traffic?

What should I do/build if I don't want to depend on Google traffic. I just afraid that someday my website does not rank in the top 10 for some reason. (no I dont do black hat SEO). Earning will drop significantly.

If you don't want to depend on Google to be your main traffic source you simply just need to find another source of traffic.

For example many on this very forum drive a ton of traffic with their signatures. Forum marketing simply works. Find niche-specific forums for your topic and start posting.

I don't depend on google for traffic really. I get a lot of traffic through here, some blogs, social networks... emailing, and word of mouth!

I have found this forum to be one of the most consistent sources of traffic to my blog since I signed up here. Other long term forms of traffic generation like article marketing and video marketing are also helpful in both sending direct traffic and giving you another indirect link via Google if you are competing strongly on certain keywords.

Best of luck
Ellen

Ive heard that a good ezine article can be a good way for two reasons,
one way is referring traffic and with a good title that includes your keyword, you never know where the article might be ranking in the top the top ten for something revolving around your keyword (if your particular market isnt dominated heavily by other SEO sites)

Oh and also, looking on fiverr.com is a good way to find someone to write a decent ezine article and submit it for you. If you are unfamiliar with fiverr, you may be amazed that a ton of services are offered for 5 dollars

I tell folks the same thing, forum traffic works.

The more trust you build, the more free traffic you will get.

If you spam a niche forum, they blacklist your arse, not the forum but the members. Keep them happy with good content.

What's cool about niche forums is, the members will actually tell you upfront what they want or need.

If you are serious in business, you should invest in PPC or other paid traffic. The google organic ranking may drop anytime. And your site may disappear from SERPs if your SEO were found to be against Google guidelines. Therefore it is always good to have Backup plan.

I seriously disagree with this. I'm in "serious" business and I don't use PPC or paid traffic at all. I find where my prospects are at online and I market there. There are many ways to profit from FREE traffic and run a "serious" business.

There is always a reason why google dumps old front page listings. It can be as simple as a competitor decided to build some links to their page after sitting stagnet for a couple of years once they seen they where beat out. In which case they probably also had several different pages for that same exact front page listing so they chose to bring them all back.

However if you are building multiple pages to your site through either a blog or even just your front page. It really shouldnt make that much of a difference to lose one front page listing. For I actually have a few pages on page 3 and they are still getting really good traffic for those page 3 keywords.

You should be deversifying in the first place just to make sure you are getting traffic from many different sources and not just one. There are several ways you can do this and this forum is just one of those ways. You can also use articles and or videos. It is all on what you can offer your possible readers. If it is articles then send out a few articles every month. If you are good at building or making videos then offer that. You can even take your already published articles and turn them into videos.

But do not rely fully on just one traffic source it is just setting you up for failure later on.

There are multiple methods of getting traffic that doesn't rely on Google.

Some have been listed already.

Here's a short list for you to investigate:

1. Article Marketing
2. Video Marketing
3. Forum Marketing.
4. Blog Comments.
5. Podcasts.
6. Guest Posts
7. PPC (but personally I don't recommend this until you've created at least one product for sale)

It's important not to try and do all of these at the same time - concentrate on one at a time. And figure out what works and what doesn't.

Then the most important advice of all:

START A LIST.

That way, as you create traffic you build a list.

HTH.

Paul

PS - BACK UP YOUR LIST REGULARLY!

As with any real marketing endeavor, it helps to know who your target market is. What "traffic" are you looking for?

In any business, if you create a real value and connect directly with those who need it, those people will use their own energy to take care of the rest, which is what a lot of the internet successes are based on, empowering the masses to use their own energy.

I also agree with Paul Wolfe:

8. A LIST
PPC is profitable if you figure out a spreadsheet on it with this kind of calculation:

Ad budget >=< # of clicks x %squeeze opt-in rate x %buyers rate x profit per conversion

and see if you are making any money on the deal, it is strictly accounting once you try a few different pages and see what gets the best results. PPC only works if you are willing to measure the results and do the due diligence i.e. do the math.

Is PPC profitable? I know of someone who made 5 million dollars profit last month on a PPC campaign selling a single product. Of course PPC is profitable, that is why so many people do it. If it was not profitable then nobody would do it. Millions of people run PPC ads for a reason.
