hey, as i am working on my first site, i discovered im ranking #3 in 1 keyword what i didnt even want to rank... i mean keyword with quotes have 180 k competition...but i havent done no backlinking to that site...and unfortunately it only has like 300 exact searches per month and 500 phrase...
The good thing is that maybe i can get some little traffic now. Atm im kinda the only one visiting my site

And i have backlinking my main keyword a lot but this one haven't rised

in 16th page...

Just forget the competition level by number of pages indexed. If you want traffic just you have to think about out doing the first 10 pages and enter that page.

Having said that if you are targeting only 300 searches per month that is 10 per day, you may not get even 50% of share f you are not into first 2 or three spots on page one.

My sincere advice consider associated or related keywords and target them also on the same page. Think like a visitor rather than a webmaster you will succeed much easily.

Hey there Vapsjee,

First thing that i am going to tell you is that exact in quotations is ENTIRELY different than exact match..

exact match is just the keywords in the exact combination that you researched them.

however, that is a good sign because you are obviously interpreted as relevant on the "keywords" <-- whatever you typed in; so that means that you might want to check out the exact competition and consider targeting it as well, maybe on a subpage though, because the more keywords you target on the home page, your linkjuice is dived between them..

P.S i would expect you are ranking some number for the keywords you typed in the quotations, without the quotations so i would definetly consider adding them to your strategy somewhere

P.s.s - phrase does not mean the number of people who search for the term in quotations, even though the GAKT (google adwords keyword tool) puts the results in quotations, it means:for example: how to "keywords", best "keywords", "keywords" in florida, etc etc
^^^^so they will also be inflated and typically not worth considering^^^

p.s.s.s - 300 extra people coming to your site can be very significant
after all, some money is better than none

Im certain about the linkjuice division, just fyi...

it doesnt meant that its impossible, but it does mean that it will be easier to organize your strategy, for example.. if your rankings are dropping on homepage, and you are only targeting one keyword there, then you know that it is something to do with that keyword only... that always helps

and keyword tool exact showing 300...
this is good news really as this keyword wasnt mean to rank

Thats good then just see what off line and online SEO to the said keyword you have done, because most of the time related keywords SEO in the same niche behaves similarly, you already have a tested (without much effort result is seen) keyword project iin your hand just replicate any related keyword and see how easy it will be and continue to repeat and rinse. Success will be yours.

oh yes, always good to find out you are ranking for things that you didnt mean to. And dont forget the thanks button! (beside quote multiquote quick reply in bottom of each post)

another tip is to always check out your Google Analytics to see what keywords your traffic is coming from, lets say you get 10 a day from "keyword" and 1 or so a week from blahblah "keyword" --> it means that you are probably ranking number 8,910,12,15 for blahblah "keyword" without having done any SEO, now a small amount of SEO will probably get you to the top, even for a subpage ---> example -- wwwkeywordcom/blahblahkeyword/ - send a couple of backlinks with blahblah keyword to that page and it will rank in the top 5 for sure
