I was chatting with a friend today and we were talking about my review sites and he said that Google's new algorithm is basically picking up on "content farms". I told him "yeah it's basically for autoblogs" but then he comes back with that he read that if someone re-writes text, such as a manufacturer's text, that Google can now pick up on that. So is this the death of the Amazon review site? Or has anyone else heard that if you re-word manufacturer's texts that Google can detect it? I'd love to read something official about this. |

Unless your friend is the person that developed the algorithm, he is only speculating. Plus, isn't everything typed rewritten from something else? I am 100% sure that you can find all of the words typed in this post somewhere else on the Internet. |

Everything happening and peoples writing around some calculative guessing.Yes google changes some specific scenario but when you have some unique content in your sites then no problem you are going to have even google reverses all algorithms,Unique content stands.Try not to do keyword stuffing that will keep your site more safe.

you may use manufacturer's specifications but try to add your own theory and put that as a reference and add less links that make you safe.

Online retailers use the same manufacturing info too, it is not just review sites. Certain product comes with specifications which are the same whether the product is sold in Best Buy or WalMart. They may use different description, but the specs will stay the same.

Manufacturing info is usually not something you can change, but if you add to it and make it your own, you are in effect adding to the web and benefiting visitors, which is what google wants. Why would they penalise that? Simply copying and pasting will obviously get caught by google but if you make it your own I cant see how they will catch it? There will be some innocent casualties as usual but whats new. Isn't there always this type of speculation? The skys falling in type? Andy |

The new Google algorithm is dangerous to the "spammy" content scraper sites. Not so much the scraping or using of good quality content, but the ones where they make a post that is 1 or 2 sentences long, the excerpt only, from other sites. Some Amazon Scraped sites only pull in the title (item) and a very small description. Some people do it a LOT better and on top of the product details (which will be the same no matter where you read it) they add a fair amount of added, quality content into the mix. When you see a site with each post/page having just 1-2 sentences, that is bad. When you see a site with each post/page having 400 -1500+ words, there is a big difference. |

Write 100% unique content that delivers real value to your website visitors and Google will reward you for it. Don't copy and paste stuff from other sites and stay away from auto blogs and all that kind of stuff. That's my opinion anyways. Cheers |

I would say that by having some of your own content (written by you or outsourced) would really help you stand out in these affiliate sites. A bit of originality will probably be rewarded by google too....so why not take 10 mins to write 2-3 paragraphs of what youthink of the product and see the difference it makes in your results. Thanks Tonio |

This is total myth. Let me give you an example Ford Car Company supplies same car description to all thier dealers. Each dealer upload same information to his/her site. So if Google was slapping this then these Dealers would be shouting at Ford to provide unique description for each car. Think how much would it cost to do this. Another Example, Xbox 360 games, each publisher give out same description for their games. Amazon, Walmart, Buy or any other big retailer has same info which gets posted to millions of pages. Is Google slapping these ? The whole idea behind this myth is another Guru is selling his product. |

Theres no real substitute for quality content. Auto blogs will suffer, but i doubt they will be wiped out completely. Originally written SEO'd content cant be beaten though. Google will always change and amend their algorithms, you just have to adapt.
