I've been tring for along time now to enlist my site in that directory but for years now they have refused. I'm read rules on how to get accepted but nothing is working. Pls does anyone have an idea on how to go about it. Most of the sites ahead of me in google are in DMOZ. I guess that's why they are ahead. |

Do you think being listed in DMOZ will be a significant factor for SEO? I've been trying since last year but not approved.

I think that enlisting for DMOZ is one of the hardest thing to do in our days on the web. I am trying for the last months but nothing and only with original comments and articles.

A way to promote a blog is to submit blog to BlogsAvenue.Com and another site for blog submission is BlogrollCenter.Com.

Only submit your site to DMOZ when it contains lots of useful, original content. If your site is in its infancy stages - why bother, you wont get approved. Follow their policies re submission to the letter - otherwise you wont get approved. I understand you can only make ONE attempt to get listed - if you resubmit more than once - you will get rejected. |

Create a nice looking site...no broken links,no black hat seo,no keyword stuffing, the site structure should be good and submit it only once, then wait for your turn to come as it takes a lot of time to get listed on Dmoz.

They actually accepted sites years ago but now I think it's done with. The last site I submitted there was probably 5 years ago or something and it still hasn't been accepted. I did sign up there to be an editor years ago but never did anything with it. I don't submit my sites to DMOZ anymore. There are better things you can spend your time on.

Dmoz has like 80% crap sites so theres no reason for you not to get accepted They are just damn slow so you have to wait your turn. Sometimes its 2 months, sometimes 6 months, sometimes over a year, sometimes youll need to resubmit |

Dmoz is the authorized and complete human being directory. it would be great if there is any paid submission as we have also submitted many websites but all are being in pending status.

I have had one site accepted but nothing since, and that was around 5 years ago. the key is to follow the submission guidelines to the letter, only put the actual name of the company in the title and no sales crap. Also if you look at the top 10 sites for most ranking keywords, they majority of them do not have a Dmoz listing, I dont think it carries the same weight anymore |

I have also applied for DMOZ but my none of my site was accepted. I think to be listed or not in DMOZ does not affect any of your SEO campaign.

The best way to get in DMOZ is to get accepted by an editor. Once you're an editor you can move your website to another category. Thanks Todd |

DMOZ is not down or out of the game because someone is minding the site. I volunteered to be an editor a few months ago. The rejection letters were almost instantaneous. HOWEVER, my submission applications have been in limbo for years. What kills me is my chosen categories have fewer than 5 or 6 ancient geo-cities era sites. In the categories I watch the listings are so stagnant I am surprised the search engines don't punish DMOZ. |

Here my question is? why we need to post in Dmoz, as per the old algorithm only Google will give more important for DMOZ, but now a days Google will follow more the 200 factors for listed the SERP. So in some the times only Google will give more importance for Dmoz. As per the Google panda algorithm now a days Google give more important for Quality & unique content.

I sat through a sales call a few months ago with a middle aged, very rich and very demanding client who demanded to know why his company site was not listed on DMOZ. Not one flunkie in the room had the nuts to tell Mr. 1999 the truth. Instead they decided to buy a couple DMOZ listed sites to try and make him happy. The guy with the checkbook is always right. PS, this guy also swears his beloved flash animations will play on Ipads because they play YouTube.

I speculate that you almost have to know someone that volunteers at DMOZ. I am sure there are some genuine editors, but I bet there are a lot of that want money for listings or that lock down a category to limit the competition. That being said, I would not waste much time with them. Sure go ahead and submit your website to them, taking the time to create a nice submission. Then forget about them and hope for the best. If you get listed down the road you can be happy, but do not hold your breath. I think that a good listing on dmoz can be quite beneficial though for a site. |

I've been trying to get some sites listed here for ages too... and I mean quality ages sites, but no luck!! I've given up... though I don't think they hold a lot of power SEO wise nowadays, compared to what they used to. Best to spend your time creating quality content.
