Default What to do after Google Deindex?

Hi guys,

Any thoughts on the issue when the big G deindexes one of your site for no apparent reason? Is it worth to pursue that site or just totally give up? Is there hope to get it indexed again? Thanks!

Are you sure you are deindexed? Check "site:yourdomain"

Like InitialEffort said check site:domain.com, If you still don't see the site, I would build a few high PR backlinks all pointing at the Index page, check site:domain.com again in a day or two.

Why not? don't give up easily.Keep on building good quality links to your site until it's indexed again. Shouldn't b a problem if your content is unique and didn't try to trick Google by black hat.

Hi btzr,

Don't fret, Google de-indexing is never permanent.

If your website was really de-indexed then you have a serious violation of Google's Webmaster Guidelines. However, if you fix the violations and request reconsideration you can easily get re-indexed.

Having said that, don't confuse a poor ranking for your targeted keyword with being de-indexed. If you request reconsideration for a website that has not been de-indexed it will be a waste of everybody's time.

Thanks guys. This was a brand new site and as far as I'm aware it did not violate any of Google's policies.

My main concern is that if I put more effort into this it might be wasted effort as reindexing won't happen. Or might not happen. Question if it's worth it. Hmmm.

Unfortunately Google's Webmaster doesn't say anything about the issue. It still shows that all the pages are indexed although in reality (when I do site: mysite.com) there is no track of my site.

Hi btzr,

There should not be a space between the site: operator and your domain name. If you leave a space between "site:" and your domain name the site: operator will not function as intended.

Also, leave the sub domain (www) off in case you have a canonicalization issue.

Correct:
site:yourdomain.com

Correct (but may not work if you have canonicalization issues):
site:www.yourdomain.com

Incorrect:
site: www.yourdomain.com
site: yourdomain.com

Thanks, but neither of them was the problem. I might just give it up though and direct my efforts to another niche. Thanks guys!

Do you have a google webmaster account, site owners can see information about how Google crawls, indexes and ranks your site. it really helps your SEO effort.

Before you give up and head on to another niche, perhaps you should find out what happened so you don't keep repeating the mistake(s).

Sorry, btzr, for the delay in response. Here is what Google has to say about deindexing:
Quote:
Google may temporarily or permanently remove sites from its index and search results if it believes it is obligated to do so by law, if the sites do not meet Google's quality guidelines, or for other reasons, such as if the sites detract from users' ability to locate relevant information. We cannot comment on the individual reasons a page may be removed. However, certain actions such as cloaking, writing text in such a way that it can be seen by search engines but not by users, or setting up pages/links with the sole purpose of fooling search engines may result in removal from our index. Please read our Webmaster Guidelines for more information.
If your site is blocked from our index because it violates our quality guidelines, we may alert you about this using Webmaster Tools. Simply sign in to our Webmaster Tools, add your site URL, and verify site ownership. The Overview page provides information about the indexing of your site.
If you receive a notification that your site violates our quality guidelines, you can modify your site so that it meets these guidelines, then submit your site for reconsideration.
If you want, you can PM your website info to me and I will review it to see if I can gain some insight as to what happened.
