I want to rank a site for a Spanish keyword. Do I just purchase the Spanish keyword which will be a .com My next question is - How do I rank it? Do I just build backlinks to it as I usually do with my other sites? or do I have to treat this one "differently" by building links from Spanish sites? I would appreciate your help guys! |

Sorry, but I forgot to mention this.. But its not specifically to Spain. Its for general Spanish. Or is it necessary to target .es domains? |

I haven't tried foreign marketing yet, but here's a video by Dan Brock about it: Dan Brock's Deadbeat Super Affiliate Hope this helps. I'd give more info, but Dan covers it pretty well. |

| Actually it does, if you're going to target the global Spanish speaking market including here in the US, you need to used a .COM. Now I am not saying that you can't rank globally with a Geo target extension like .ES, you can but is going to take more Offpage SEO to do it. |

Essentially the process is the same to rank a keyword in any language. SEO is vital for rank and fairly easy to accomplish. I ranked a keyword with high search volume and thousands of pages but none of them SEO optimized, You can see classified ads on first page for some keywords! And as far as backlinks, I don't know how do you build backlinks, but for example article marketing is not as effective as in english, you have article directories like articuloz.com and articulo.org, but the exposure is less than desired. You can use social media sites like twitter and facebook Some of the bookmarking sites doesn't allow non english content. Youtube is a great resource to generate traffic and rank. Squidoo and hubpages doesn't allow non english content. Link exchange is a good alternative Hope that help All the best Cristian |

It doesn't matter to the sense that the only thing it differ from is the language but its all the same off page and on page optimization factors to rank your site.

You can use other strategies if you have. But if none you can use what you did before. You can also hire an expert to that job for you. Well, if you have money. |

Links are links. Obviously Spanish links are going to be more desirable, but is an EDU link worth less than one from an ES site? Probably not. If I were you, I would use the same methods that have worked for you in the past, at least to start. Then you can branch out. As far as choosing to go with es. vs. .com, it really depends on where your customers going to come from. Hosting in the country you are targeting can help. Localization is becoming king. If you want to sell in Mexico, make sure to buy the same site with the .mx, etc. |
