Default Redirecting URL and SEO

I have question for you SEO experts.
Situation is like this:i have anchor text link pointing to non valid page to my site, i have problem changing it because its some artisteer template problem that i cant solve normaly by changing code in function.php and footer.php.
so question is is the link value in terms of seo stays like there is no invalid page, because by using plugin i redirect taht anchor text to my home page where it should be pointing anyway?

Well, can you share the url of your site so that I can better look that url pointing at the invalid page.

I mean without seeing that page I cannot tell you anything perfectly.

It depends if it's a temporary redirect or a permanent one.

It will redirect... But you won't get any juice from the backlinks. I'm redirecting an EMD to the main site. No love from the thousands of backlinks built to the EMD! But I don't care... If someone stumbles across a link they'll get to the right place.

CHEERS!

I am not 100% following but I will tell you this.

Site A ----->301 on your site----->your home page

In that situation, the link juice WILL now flow to your home page but it deteriorates over time.

well look its 301 from 1 page that is not valid on same site to that site home page, so its not from site A to site B
