Actually.. it isnt spam because what spammer would bid up a cpc so that he had to pay 1600 bucks every time someone came to his site.. last time i checked they were into tricking traffic to their sites, not paying loads of cash for each visit lol.. just a thought. i do think that it is strange though. it would be nearly impossible to rank for though anyway Tyler A |

Hi TA21, The CPCs are estimates, not actual data (that why you see the word "Estimated" used in the column heading). This is what is known as a data outlier. You should anticipate them and generally not consider them as valid data. Don't get hung up on outliers, they aren't significant except to signify anomalies for further study. Having said that, it is an interesting anomaly. I see a couple flaws in your formula for calculating potential earnings. Why would you use Global Search data when your website will generally not likely rank and draw traffic from all regions and in all languages? Especially not in competitive keywords. Also, there are wide variances in typical CTRs especially when you have a keyword based on a large company name which is also identical to the domain name. The official website will typically get 90%+ CTR in such cases. You need to use different criteria for different types of keywords. There is no credible one-size-fits-all formula for calculating potential earning that doesn't make allowances for different types of keywords. |

Thanks man, pretty interesting post. If it were something that I would actually consider going after, then I would certainly change the formula, lol, I did think that you would have to outrank verizon in order to get even a small chunk of that traffic, and you would probably have to own a "spin-off" domain that would make them think that you might even be affiliated with them to get ANY even if you were on page 1. but just as you pointed out what an outlier is, it was merely an eye attractive example.. See, I was researching micro niche sites, and in that case I would say it is actually a pretty good formula. Even pretty low in most micro niche cases, from my experience. BUT even in micro niche you cant always expect a 10-20% CTR so you are still right, in the end all things must be considered, and I really do appreciate you adding some actual value to the post. Thanks again, Regards, Tyler A | |

You are assuming waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. That your site is going to generate that much targeted traffic. That your site and visitors will be up to snuff to warrant google putting that type of ad on your page. Not likely. People forget the myriad of other factors that goes into what kind of ads and CPC your page will get. It's a whole lot more than just "niche." Seriously, if it were that simple, everybody and their brother would build a site to suit that. But they're not. Why? Why aren't we all cashing in on those easy riches? Because in reality, we would be lucky to get an ad that paid $5, and a CTR of 2%. The quality of your page and visitors has much more to do with CPC than niche. And the content network is so much cheaper than search. Paul |

Those potential adsense renue calculations are alqays boggus. One of my highest earning page has a 30% ctr abd makes me $5-10 a day. Monthly searhes from google kw toll show it as under 1.5k. Some of my pages get a 1% ctr... Way lower thsn what most edtimations would give it
