I saw this link posted in Matt Cutts' twitter stream. Google Farmer Update: Quest for Quality - SEO-Blog I haven't looked at all the metrics, but apparently Ezine was the 2nd biggest loser. Other 'big' sites such as wisegeek, hubpages, buzzle, articlebase, and business.com were affected. They are calling this the Farmer Update. Great. It appears that all Google updates from here on in are going to be named, just like Hurricanes. |

interesting, but i would find a "biggest winners" list WAY more interesting. By the way..my articles on EZA and AB are still ranking great. Actually i just boosted them up a little more. I think whining about this so called hit is not constructive - article marketing still works, articles are STILL ranking, are still giving backlinks...and my web sites themselves gaining rank, probably now even more. Fine with me if the spammer sites are dropping ![]() No reason whatsoever to complain here. |

I love the fact they are now the web police. Wonder when they'll hit the biggest video sites... including Youtube. |

Interesting. I just sent it to the big man @ Mahalo to ask the validity.

My high-quality blog lost 700 visitors per day. My auto blog that scrapes content gained 100 visit per day. The only thing I've used article marketing for was to build backlinks with keywords. Not sure why my main blog took such a big hit. I'm afraid to link build it now, and I'm afraid to add more unique high-quality content. |

I think the biggest threat is going to be the add on for chrome that lets you block sites from appearing in the results. Google then gets feedback and if there are enough blocks they say'll they'll investigate and take action.. Time to hire some fiverr gigs and get people blocking my rivals |

On numerous threads, people were commenting on how ehow is a content farm and was to lose traffic etc etc. But reading the link in the OP, it looks like ehow was not effected and if anything has now got a slightly greater number of keywords ranking according to their scale of measurement.

Thats because people like to speak without having any facts. The bottom line is google is a business and has share holders. Google is answerable to those share holders and has legal obligations to ensure they make good business decisions. A large part of their income is adwords/adsense one of the major income sources for google are ehow /demand media. Do you really think they would do anything that might negatively affect the bottom line? Also has anyone noticed how google always make an example of a big company before they do an algo change that effects the little guys?

Ezine Articles is contributor to Google income too, perhaps not on the scale on Demand Media and they were hammered. Maybe ehow is doing something that meets the criteria of Google aside from finance. |

Fantastic post with an article! Real case nowadays, thanks. In my observation, the farms will analyze the changes and find the way to get back, again ;-) |

| It will be interesting to see what they do to get back on top. Maybe find some way of enforcing unique articles and making articles we write even harder to publish on their sites!

I'm a freelancer there, and true to their name, they can get very 'demanding' with the level of content they require. I always knew they'd eventually come out ahead of ezinearticles. Ezinearticles submissions must be approved, but it's nothing like the Demand Studios process. I think eHow is winning because they do have a much better level of quality control going on.

Since I first started in article marketing I've heard how difficult it is to get articles accepted at EzineArticles. People said they had to edit and submit their articles multiple times due to the ridiculous requirements of the approval process. I have never viewed it this way. Every article I've submitted has been published within two days. Even those with the occasional misspelled word. It'd probably be a very good thing if EzineArticles cracked down and actually weed out a lot of the junk content they have on their site. I remember seeing many articles by the same author on the exact same topic targeting the exact same keywords written over and over and over with hardly any change between them. Maybe they reordered paragraphs or something to that affect. In my opinion, that approach is spam plain and simple. Sure I understand the article marketer trying to pull in a few more clicks but this offers no value to a person looking for quality information who has already read the first version of the article. But that is just my opinion... not out to start wars on article marketing methods. ha ha ![]() Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how this one plays out.
