I Have questions about SEO book... Not making sense..

Do any of you use SEO book for your keyword research??
There's much confusion for me lately.

1) what exactly is EST?

I know I look at that and it represents the amount of searches, but does that mean daily searches or weekly searches?? OR is est simply an average over a month? Does anyone know the specific answer

2) Why would a typo get a ton of searches??

I'll find that I'm looking up a keyword (lets say golf swing). I'll find a key phrase with 2 G's in the front (reading ggolf swing). This key type phrase sometimes gets like 60 plus est. How is this so??

3) Why would a typo get like 60 searches in google and also 30 searches in yahoo?

in seo book keyword tool it tells you the number of est for both google and yahoo. It is very hard for me to believe that tons of people in both google and yahoo would accidentally type something like 2 g's for golf swing like (ggolf swing)

Does anyone have any solid answers to these??

or do most people here just not use seo book as a keyword research tool..?
