Default Developing Inbound Links

Hi All,

I've just got my one page site ranking on page1 of G for its search term woop, woop. The only thing I've done to get this is kept all the content relevant to the actual services. My site is armchairinvestments dot co dot uk - please dont mention the site in the string.

I'm being told time and again I have to get inbound or back links but I dont actually understand SEO or what I have to do (or even where I would place them on the page!!). I read the links have to be "relevant"?

Some say they its really important the links are "relevant" in the sense of relevance anchor text.

Others say they don't have to be "relevant" if linking page bears no obvious tie up to the target page.

I dont know where to start???

What I'm trying to do is getting links into my site so that I start to rank for my other keywords but I now know its extremely relevant anchor text. Is this actually the way you get your other keywords ranking, if so how do I go about this - Can anyone help?

Can anyone have a look? - Would I be better to ask a warrior here to do this for me?

Regards, Jim.

Hi Jim and Welcome,

Here is a good article by well respected authors who actually do testing of such things. It describes the aspects of good backlinks - those that help you rankings most.

All Links are Not Created Equal: 10 Illustrations on Search Engines' Valuation of Links | SEOmoz

I refer others to it often because I think it's a great foundation for understanding backlinks.

Once you've mastered the concept of backlinks, you then need to evaluate the different types of backlinks that are available and whether you want to try and obtain them yourself or outsource them. Some of the methods for obtaining backlinks are article distribution, press releases, forum profiles, bookmarks, blog comments, etc.

thanks,

Valerie
