Default One reason why I'm leaving PPC...

Just thought many of you might get a kick out of this...

I received a call the other day from a PPC search marketing company the other day regarding one of the businesses I am running. Ok, no problem there right? I'm all for hearing about the services that people have to offer and how they can potentially help my business.

When I asked him how he found my site, he told me that he found me through my sponsored ad on Google.

DOH! I just paid a $1.50 for this guy to solicit me! Son of a!

Just goes to show you never know who is clicking your ads.

One reason why I'm leaving PPC...

Isn't that just throwing out the baby with the bathwater, so to speak?

Hmmm...Not sure if you want to overhaul your whole business model based on $1.50. Seems a bit short-sighted in my opinion.

Also, not to be come off as a jerk, but maybe you need to do a better job of setting up your campaigns to targer more appropriate people? Or try switching over to Facebook advertising where you can have much more control over who sees your ad and when..

I have never had any success with Google PPC. Or Microsoft's program for that matter. Facebook is something I am currently working on getting into it. Just making sure my research is sound and I have the right demographic.

But still, that's a rather annoying situation.

PPC has problems but what doesn't?

The key is diversification of traffic so your
business is not dependent upon any single
avenue for success.

I've tried multiple sources of paid and unpaid
advertising and in the end, even the "unpaid"
advertising costs money as "time is money".

With PPC, I'm up and testing my offer in 1 day with
easy to implement analytics. Free traffic is always
my follow on strategy but I need the PPC to tell me
what's working with my offer before I invest the time
and effort into the free traffic generation.

Hmm that sucks mate. And I think you're right, even our competitors can click those links to see our landingpage and wasting our money... You might want to try facebook ads instead?

Cheers,

The real reason you're leaving ppc is because it wasn't profitable for you. If it was, you wouldn't leave it over $1.50. Scratch that.....a possible $1.50. For all you know, he didn't click your ad at all. He could have typed the address in manually, or copied and pasted it. I do that all the time.

Anyone can use any ad to garner business. It's part of the price you pay.

But you're honestly going to stop a whole marketing method over the price of half a Happy Meal?

Seems a bit drastic, but that's JMHO.

c'mon James ...A lady doesn't kiss and tell

Yes .. I make money and I do this full time so I have to turn a profit to pay the bills and eat.

How much? Enough to do this full time, pay the bills and eat -

But I will tell you this. I LOVE what I do, I work hard at it, I work longer hours than I ever did in my job and really don't care as it doesn't feel like work to me.

This is always going to happen. Competitors will click your links when they're round there friends houses as well. People click and don't buy - it's part of the game. As long as you're always in the green everyday then it's not a problem. Just keep using AdWords

Amy: Are you saying you analyze the market with PPC first, then invest into free traffic sources? You also say you are investing "time" to get free traffic, what do you mean? Do you use tools that take time to work with(I do...).?

Yes. Articles, SEO, etc take time. I really want to test my offers with fast and relaible traffic before I invest my time into article writing.

I've received similar solicitations before ad they
say right up front that they notice that you were
advertising in the PPC, so they don't click on those
ads but copy and paste your URL in to get your
contact info.

I can't imagine that they wouldn't realize that
they are costing you money to get your info.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
