Is Directory Submission Even Worth It?

I wanna start building backlinks by getting some Directory submissions going, but Im curious of what you guys think. Are they even worth it? If you guys got any sites that provides directory submissions at a low cost it would be helpful.

Not really... I would submit to maybe 5-10 directories, and that is it.

I would be on the safe side and sub,it to twenty to 50 directories

I don't really think it's worth it unless it's automated, in which case you're not really doing any work.

Submit to directories that have high PR and check whether its crawled by web spiders recently. It helps.

Most of the directories nowadays are abandoned and stale sites that are nothing else than a big graveyard of outbound links and Google knows that. Unless you can find some decent high-PR, active and quality ones, you shouldn't bother.

It is going to give you benefit in long runs..... In SEO directory submissions have long term benefits, links get indexed by the time and in result you enjoy constantly high serps....

Directories are good, but it takes long time for backlinks.

Directory submission are good for building backlink. It will give result in long term basis.

They are definitely helpful. Directories contain multiple categories and when you post in the right category Google considers it as a relevant backlink and gives your website more love.

Best to get a list of the top 20 and just submit to those. There are thousands out there, but with little or no authority.

It is still a good way to diversify your link profile and vary your anchor text.

If you have only used your keyword anchor text in your link building you can easily do this with directories.

But yes they dont have as much of an effect now.
