So I just did a test. I posted 10761 blog comments on different blogs and blasted 1177 articles all to different article directories 5 days ago. As of now 7 of those links have been indexed by yahoo explorer. Granted I didnt do any extra things to index them like I normally do. Just figured i'd point this out to those who worry so much about drip feeding their links.

if you ping them all at one time then that would really ring a bell.

You can not build links to fast..if that's the case you could just blast links to the top 10 sites for the keyword you are targeting and they would fall ...but that's not the case for this reason.Google will never penalize a site for getting to many links to fast because they know that all the competition would have to do is attack the sites on page one by blasting links to them...just start blasting and laughing man...go crazy..build 5000...10000..60000 per day

Now to your second point im doing just that. For one of my new sites I blasted about 20,000 links out so far. Im working on getting them indexed. We'll see how badly this hurts my site. Yahoo and Bing love this stuff though. For this site ive been floating between #4, #30, #10 on yahoo and bing for a pretty competitive keyword by these link blasts. Its still very early though so hopefully i'll settle in at #4. Google hasn't indexed many of the links yet so we'll see. Also off topic a bit but one of my sites is ranking for every optimized keyword on page #1 or #2 in google strictly from forum links, blog comments, and a sprinkling of articles. The niche is decently competitive, nothing major like weight loss but still held down by some big authority sites. Just trying to show that all these myths about "forum links and blog comments don't work" or "don't make too many links Google will be mad" its all garbage.

Guys, all you need to think about is can you do this to competitors to hurt them? And the answer is no you can't. Google isn't dumb, and going viral is very possible. I agree with the OP, it is a myth. |

What counts more (and what outscores non-relevant links) are those that come from authority sites, and those that are more relevant. Quality works best always, but no denying quantity helps. Chris |

Building links fast wont look unnatural , however consistency of those fast building links does have the potential to do harm. Blasting 20k links out there once , then stopping for 2 months and then doing it again, then stopping for another 2 will raise alarm bells because google expects to see some consistency , websites do not get mentioned by people ( alot of people) and then everyone goes silent , the effect continues and although it does slowly increase or decrease it wont just stop. Depending on how fast all the links are indexed ( and id imagine alot of them will be indexed and maybe even deindexed again with in 10 days or so ) it means your links building willl come to a complete stop ( or dramatically reduce at a high rate) with in 10 days, then what ? Your either continue with that and keep it consistent or you slowly bleed it off until you are happy with maintaining a link building routine ( from quality sources ) |

Yes! You are right here! If building link fast really affect our ranking, then it is quite easy to kill our competitor. |
