I was using the ad conversion tracking in google adwords and it was working perfectly fine, everything was being tracked accurately and I was optimizing my ads according to my cost-per-acquisition. But it suddenly started counting every clickthrough as a conversion and I have no idea why. I've set up new conversion tracking campaigns, I've pasted the code on different landing pages and it still records every ad visit as a conversion. Please help! I am spending money on clicks without knowing which ads/keywords are converting. I am taking the code they're giving me and pasting it on my squeeze page. After that, I am pasting the same code they give me on the page that my squeeze page redirects them to after the optin. This has worked before but recently went haywire. Has anyone experienced this before? If so, your advice would be greatly appreciated! |

The conversion code is meant to be placed on only ONE page, the page reached after the event you want tracked. That is definitely not the landing page. So, if you sell something, that code would be on what is often called the "thank you for your purchase" page after the payment is confirmed. If you want to track signups to a newsletter, you put the code on the page reached after the email is received and confirmed, again some sort of "thank you" page. |
