Is it bad to edit your old backlinks?

Does it matter if I change the anchor text on some of my old backlinks, or will Google look down on this?

I'm no expert on this. But if you can change the anchor text to a relevant keyword wouldn't that be a good thing?

I don't know so I'll wait for others who may know more than I do.

We have tried this many times and it did not have any negative effects.
