Found this thread at google webmasters forum from a CNN article and just thought I would pass it along: Think you're affected by the recent algorithm change? Post here. - Webmaster Central Help There were 498 posts at the time I made this post and a follow up post on page 10 from the google employee who started it. I found the length and breadth of quality website owners who are telling the big G their pain, many of which having been long (10 year or more) well established websites. Although posting a comment is not going to cause you to get any type of manual push in the rankings the closing comment of the google employee's page 10 comment was interesting: "We've been reading this thread within the Googleplex and appreciate both the concrete feedback as well as the more general suggestions. This is an algorithmic change and it doesn't have any manual exceptions applied to it, but this feedback will be useful as we work on future iterations of the algorithm." Maybe if they begin getting more well thought out comments about some of the search findings that are now showing up in lieu of better ones that have been pushed into the twilight zone, they "might" (BIG 'might') realize their latest algo isn't all that it could be? |

Could be a net...out to catch the fishes. Those complaining probably had the low quality sites, now Google can chase em out, look at their linking strategies, and work on the next algo update...

It looks like this algo, as any change would do, has effected genuine sites. It is almost impossible to filter out crap and not accidentally take down some good sites as well. All Google are trying to do is find balance with this one and do a bit of repair work.
