Default How Do You FEEL About The Google Algorithm Change?

Hey Warriors,

I know there has been a lot of discussion about this and mainly relating to Ezine articles that was hit pretty hard.

However my question is this:

"How Do You FEEL About It?"

If you relied heavily on Article Marketing or let me be more clear - Article Directory Marketing how has the update affected you in terms of traffic and listings?

Remember when the same thing happened with US FREE Ads a few years back?

Then we had Squidoo that you could pretty much rank for anything easily and that too was beaten down by people not providing SOLID content and just looking to make a quick buck.

Now we have this update.

Do you feel inspired to find the next best thing?

Do you feel angry?

I will start:

Personally I feel good about the changes and not to blow my own trumpet (well maybe a little bit!) my sites have actually improved in rankings since the update.

Although I do focus on building my own sites with content on THEM as oppose to an article directory.

I LIKE the update because I believe it will focus people to provide unique content and not worry too much about article spinners and short cuts.

Anyway Warriors, would love to hear your thoughts?

Chris

I've been saying this for a long time, and everybody was like "Do you know how much traffic I get from da Ezine Articlessss??? EZA is da best and Im a great article marketerrr!"

Anyways, what do I think? You absolutely CANNOT rely on Google for all your business. If you're in Niche x, you have gotta start working with the big sites in your niche. You should build quality email lists and start creating your own traffic networks. Because if Google makes a tweak to their algo and you stop making $$$, you are screwed

i Love it, one of my websites had at 2500% increase for it's main keyword, still only on secound page however it gets 200,000 monthly searches

- Maybe google has just picked up more of my backlinks i don't know, however there were a lot of 1-5 page websites with loads of backlinks before sitting at the first page and now quite a few have been dropped

I think its okay, i meen when im searching around on the internet i dont want to be hit with bundle's of spam when i click the links.

But from an IM point of view it kind of annoying or rather a chalenge as we have to learn the "tricks of the trade" again. I havn't been hit to hard from this update, some of my sites have jumped up in ranking's because i only post unique content.

I guess it all decides from what point of view you see it at.

But if you keep writing unique content you will be fine.

Great thread

Why does it matter how anyone feels about it? Google's sole objective is to deliver the most relevant results for the search terms being queried. Their goal is to please the person seeking the correct information. They felt that this change was necessary to accomplish this.

The only reason to have a negative opinion is if this has had an adverse effect on your business. And if that's the case, you are the one with the problem, not Google.

We're happy with these changes. All of our sites with original content have taken a leap in ranking. Which can only be a good thing

I agree with you ^ I tend to do both however and use Google to build my lists as this is one of the main places that people look for answers to their queries.

However agree that you should not RELY on Google too heavily either as sometimes they update...oh wait!

Yes but you are allowed to attach a feeling to it no?

If you were ranking on the first page and believed that you are providing solid content and then Google got rid of your listings you would feel something about it?

I agree if you DO feel bad then the changes are that the update has affected your business negatively and you are the one with the problem to try and fix it not Google.

Why does it matter?

Why does anything matter?

Chris

Google uses markters to create vast amounts of contents to make a niche viable in terms of numbers of results and Adwords revenue.

Once that exists, it begins closing down- raising the bar to entry and throwing away a lot of the low content stuff.

It's happened so many times in other areas, I'm surprised these changes have taken so many people by surprise...

Yes, this does happen alot!

If I understand what you are saying correctly:

You mean that a niche starts off easy to rank for but if it is proven to make money more marketers jump on board until it is saturated and then it is harder to even get listed?

Yes, it is always happening if that is the case.

However another ironic thing is that Google has NOT changed!

I don't mean the update - I mean what they are looking for in content.

SOLID,UNIQUE CONTENT THAT IS UPDATED REGULARLY WINS THE DAY!

Although this BIG update has thrown a lot of the big players that thought they were sitting pretty.

Yes, I must admit I had a good rethink with a few of my sites how I display and update content and what tools I was using as well.

Still right time of the year for a spring clean right?

I’m having many advantages with this change. However, I want to get traffic also from my EZA articles, and not only from Google.

sometimes I wonder if people are crazy, the kinds of articles they submit with no educational or informative value, just blatant product promotion with poor grammar. This is why article directories have to be so keen on filtering junk. It is always refreshing to receive quality content, this is why I understand google's position about quality content that will help internet browsers

It seems like a lot of replies say the same thing:

If you have a content rich site that provides value you have mostly seen a jump in your positions.

Looks like building your own content rich sites without trying to cut corners is the way to go!
