Hi Everyone, My question is regarding my first website that I will be putting up. Hope this is the right topic for this forum. I did alot of searching for the answer first and decided to post my question on this one. I have the domain and hosting in place but now I need to start adding content and decide how I'm going to proceed from here on. I have not written any content yet. My Question: Just to get the ball rolling, is putting articles on my niche, that are taken from somewhere else that encourages the use of their articles along with the proper way of displaying credit, a good way for my site to get out there in the way of "aging" it, until I'm ready to add my own content? Now I want to first say Thank You all for the massive amount of info I received here already in my first couple of weeks here and to say this is my first question or thread that I started. and Second, Thanks for any answers regarding this question. No, did you hear about Googles new algorithm change? They are cracking down on duplicate content sites big time dropping them from the rankings etc.... It is always best if you have 100% unique content that you wrote. Trust me play the game right, and you will have a real business. Only unique content for your blog, or website, that is my golden rule.

If your blog is already 1-2 month old you can publish new content like once a week or something. Keeps the site fresh and legit.

It's actually an article about cancer and it's from the govenment's cancer site but I understand what your saying. After reading tons of similar replies here about other questions, for some reason, that didn't seem to sink in with my own question. Totally overlooked it. Thanks for that simple and quick little eye opener. I'll write a little something myself to get it started. Thanks

Thanks, I just started writing my own little article to get that ball rolling now. I'm glad I asked first! |

Just to add some weight to the other replies, I have a crappy looking site which was sitting at number 3 earning 5 bucks a day - then it recently dropped like a stone. Last heard of at number 98. Only thing different is that I got lazy and started using news (auther credited) taken from Google alerts. Trouble is that the daily 5 bucks was my only online earnings. Lesson learned!! George |

George Sorry to hear that. I'll be sure and take the advice from other replys to post only unique articles. I also have several more (9) of these different domain names and sites that I'll throw up and post an article or 2 here and there just to get them up and running unless I here of something else that is better and not as time consuming. I want to focus on one at a time until I get flowing. Thanks, Joe

Duplicate content is not getting sites dinged by google. It's how you use that content and what kind of content it is. That's how it's always been. People have taken much out of context with any "new" google algorithm. To me, it's the same, just more manual crackdowns and enforcement of policies already in place. If you followed the "old" policies, no problem. Whenever I mentioned the "old" policies in the past, people told me to go to hell and they were going to ignore them and shmooze google. If your site has has one article (or very few) copied from an article site, that has never been a good practice. There's no magic in an aged website. If it were, than your site with one or few articles in 5 years would be number one. Will it? Doubtful. Paul |
