TT told me that a certain keyword gets 694 daily combined views while Google on the other hand tells me the same keyword gets only 480 (broad match)a month. There's other keywords that I put in and according to TT it gets no results at all but on Googles tool it gets 14,800 (broad) a month. If a tool is that inaccurate I think it's safe to say that it's pretty worthless IMHO. To a person that inexperienced you can easily waste money and time if you're relying on the results TT puts out. Maybe the "daily search count" displayed for the keyword in TT is not really daily but monthly? Maybe I have a screwy copy? Maybe it's my computer? I have a keyword for you to try and tell me if I'm wrong: contech scarecrow sprinkler That's just one, I tried about a dozen with results that are WAY off compared with Google. |

Well sometimes Google is also a guesstimation - sometimes the traffic may vary depending on the month as well! For example, if you look at Halloween and see the millions of results it has, that's probably only optimal in the month of September-October.

I normally go with the numbers given by Google Keyword Tool, cause if you are trying to rank on google, go with the source, however TT is useful for quickly seeing how your on-page SEO rank is, as it will quickly let you know if you need to improve your on-page SEO. However, I have heard that the 'difficulty level' of a keyword given by TT puts a lot of weight on on-page SEO only, so don't blindly take what TT gives as your only source of truth. |

TT is not the only keyword tool that's not performing at the moment. Market Samurai (best tool IM0) has been almost unusable for over a month now. They blame it on Google changes and the fact that Yahoo site explorer is being scrapped. But i agree if a tool does not provide accurate results it's useless. |

Traffic Travis is good for one thing and only one thing. The SEO Analysis feature. It will take all of the top 10 results for your keyword and list all kinds of valuable information. Also for those wanting to find better "monthly search volume" all you need to do is go to the Google Keyword tool put in your keyword and then download the results. It will pull the estimated searches for each month and put them in csv format. Open that file in excel and separate the fields. Boom! Just like that you can see estimated search volume for the entire year. |

I have to agree, the SEO analysis feature is really good and I still use it, but the keyword results are horrible and I will no longer use it for that. I don't know if it has something to do with Google are not but it kinda seems like it seeing how they change their algo's all the time. I wouldn't doubt that big G is doing it on purpose. Market Samurai has me pretty frustrated too. I can't even use it anymore cause it just makes me angry. I hope they straighten it out soon cause I used that sucker almost every day but now it's just irritating as hell. |

Google's Broad match data includes search volume from many different keywords, not just the keyword, but any other keywords that can be created by combining the words in a different order as well as what Google calls extended broad matching feature that include words that have similar spelling or similar meaning. Outside the scope of an AdWords PPC campaign that data is completely worthless. The only match type that shows you search volume for a particular keyword is the exact match data. | |
