Default block domains owner info ???

21. Be aware that by using services that block domain ownership information when you register a domain, Google might see you as a potential spammer.

now that many registrars are offering this service for a fee - i can not see google penalizing for it ???

i was just reading an article with 55 tips for good seo and ran across this one. it is important to me because i am thinking of having up to 9 wesbites developed - all related to the same product - but each website would have a domain name that is an exact match domain name variant to the product i will be trying to rank for. i have been told that google will look to see who the owner of these sites are an will not let two sites be on page on at the same time - not that this is my goal - but the potential is there.
( an humorous example below
usedslamonforsaleinalaska.com
usedsalmonforsalealaska.com
alaskausedsalmonforsale.com

then there is the question of the sites all showing results from the same database of info - but real estate sites do this all the time.

then there is the question of the sites being on the same server, but should be all on different IP addresses.

comments welcomed : )

thanks jim

i don't think this carries much weight.

but i know there are hosting services that will not block your whois info but just will replace it with theirs. it's a legal service to control privacy. so i don't see anything wrong with it. otherwise ALL domains hosting on a particular service provider will be seen to be for one owner....now will google say they are all spammers? doesn't make sense.

so instead of using hosts that block your whois, use hosts that will just replace it. like DreamHost. They are a reliable host.
