Article Submission to Directories.

I am currently gathering articles to post on a new site and will spin them for article submission to directories.

my top competitor for the keyword i am targeting has about 1000 links, 900 of which are pr 0 and the rest higher. the highest is one pr 7.

I was curious to know, how many times should i spin these artcles and add a anchor text with the principle keyword as well as variations of the keyword to the site.

I figure with 30 original articles or even 20 i can target the 100 good links the top site has and with blog commenting, and forum commenting acquire the 900 pr 0's links.

am I in the ballpark and in your estimation experience, how many times should I spin one artcle for submission?

I don't recommend your method, as you know google has launched sophisticated algorithm that will slap on rubbish content. If you want to seriously drive targeted traffic from google just write unique article.
