Why Is This Site Ranking Page 1, Spot 1 with No Backlinks?

Why is this site ranking page 1, spot 1 on google.com with no backlinks for a competitive keyword with 6,000 local searches?

The only thing i have noticed is it has VALID HXTML and VALID CSS.

There is no links showing in yahoo site explorer.

Any Ideas?

It is hard to guess without looking at the site. If you use the free version of Traffic Travis and run the keyword through it, you can analyze the top 10 or top 20 sites and TT gives a rating in terms of difficulty for that niche. If you have Market Samurai, it is a great paid tool to analyze the niche.

If Yahoo Site Explorer does not show any backlinks, you can try a couple of alternatives. Either put the URL of the top ranking site in quotes in Google and the results give you a rough idea of the backlinks. Or you can try siteexplorer dot org to check the backlink count for that site.

I've seen some new sites hit #1-2 for a while then drop to never come back.

OR good internal linking / a few really powerful backlinks that don't show in YSE (yet?)

In alot of cases old domain redirects are used but there could be a number of factors. Backlinks matter its that simple, internal pages can rank with no backlinks purely running on the domains authority , how long they stay there however is another matter and is down to how competitive that term is. To say backlinks are meaningless for a URL is like saying my car will run without petrol. ( and no it isnt a hybrid )

6000 monthly searches? How do you know that?

Could be that the backlinsk are too new to show up in YSE. Some of my websites have hundreds of backlinks, but only 2-6 show up in YSE site explorer.

good catch - it looks like you should have no problem catching many of the related long tail phrases that go with it. Your cnet links were a good bet. People get too wrapped up in the nofollow and lose out. You have the right strategy. Go high authority even if nofollow.

Now, "gaming mouse" may be a bit of a challenge. Guest blog at a few places and keep the reviews on a regular schedule and you'll place

Yahoo and Bing only index the ---- most ---- relevant links.
Google index only relevant links, but yahoo is like "Hey pal, I won't pay you until you finish bulding my house garden."

In shortly, Google is like: Make a good job and get payied.
Yahoo is like: Be the best one and get your wage.

backlink according to google = 22;
backlink according to Yahoo = 1986;
backling according to Bing = 7;
backlink according to alexa = 4;
Alexa rank = 4,842,863;
Pages index in google = 124;
Pages index in Yahoo = 47;
pages index in Bing = 3
PR = 0;
and with SEO XRAY I found:

It is impossible for a site to rank on 1st page without backlinks. But still check the backlinks in Google with "link:site url"

I have check it with rapidsitecheck and it show 2038 backlink to the site.

Though only 7 backlinks now, those backlink linked to high PageRank websites, no-follow or dofollow? I didn't check. Because I really doubt when you search which keyword this website will be in the page 1 and #1, I checked the total 14 keywords in the website, no one is in page 1 #1.

Obviously the site is now well over a month old, it has about 2000 Yahoo Listed Backlinks, with more it hasn't found. I add more each day. All sorts of keywords, long tail etc.

Ranking Keywords, depending on which server is serving.

The site was up until the 26th April hitting all the above, First Page, Between Positions 1 and 10.

There are hundreds of others in Webmaster Tools between 10th and XXXth.

It isn't showing again in the searches. Google is funny.
It did this before and just did not appear for a few days. I was told it was because the site was new and Google has lots of Organic Search servers and it depends which it uses.

It sells a mouse a day on average. I thought about putting it on Flippa but I haven't had much luck on that site.

This is absurd. While most sites don't land on page 1 without any backlinking a few do, especially for long tail exact domains.
