Hey everyone--I'm in a bit of an Adsense site quandry and could use a seasoned vets opinion here... Back in 2007, I thought I would start a side income stream by investing in some Adsense-based article sites around certain niches. My thought was to build them up and sell them for a profit. So between then until about a year ago, I put up almost 50 sites total in a variety of niches, with anywhere from 10 to 25 articles on each site. Some of the content was original, some rewritten from PLR. But nothing scraped. I'll be honest--I didn't really do much to promote these sites. There's Ezine articles pointing their way, as well as Hub Pages, Blogspot, and Squidoo lenses for about 30 of them. But other than that... I basically put them up and forgot about them. These days my sites make me anywhere from $150 -$200 a month--total. Most of that income comes from one single site that seems to have taken off. There's a handful of others that do okay, but most of them are dying a slow and painful death. And I'm not sure why. So here's my question: Is it worth it to try and revive these? And if so, how exactly would I do that? Or do I cut bait, sell the whole lot, and take a loss? If you want the list of URLs, PM me and I'll send them over. Appreciate your input... JW |

Re-do the keyword research for all of them and see if they're really worth it, and if they are, do some SEO and get 'em earning...

So check the keywords the articles were written around? And if they're not worth anything, start over with new articles?

Basically, you HAVE TO backlink your websites. Backlinks = money. I have seen countless examples of people having gigantic sites but skipped the promotion part (backlinking), just to suffer from insignificant amount of earnings from AdSense. There was even a guy I know with 1000 articles on his site, which are not earning beyond $100 a month. This is why a person with only 1 or 2 page(s) of content(s) can earn much more than a gigantic 100-page website. If I were you, I'd start more backlinking campaigns, e.g. press release, guest posting (these 2 are the big hitters in terms of backlinks power, in my experience). Otherwise, wash rinse and repeat your current backlinking regime (squidoo, EZA, etc.). Repeat as many as it takes, making about hundreds of links in total. That's just what it takes, especially if you are talking about the standard backlinking program (article marketing, blog commenting, forum posts, social bookmarking, etc.), except for press release and guest posting. Trust me, these 2 are extremely powerful. You should try these 2. Press release is only worth (so much more) if you pay the cash for it (e.g. PRweb, i-newsWire, etc.). Guest posting, otoh, is extremely time consuming and boring because you have to email 100 people for only 1 or 2 chance(s) to guest post on their high PR blog/site. Hope this helps Jay. I've heard a lot about you too, btw; being a great email marketer. Hehe. |
