Hey my site's about 3 months old. I've been targeting my home page for a 3 word phrase and have a mixture of relevant/irrelevant/high pr/low pr backlinks. It fluctuates between position 5-7 on Google. I want to get it higher but it won't seem to move. I've noticed all the competitors have just under 1000 words, where as mine has just under 400 words because I've made it look more like a homepage rather than an article. I was thinking about removing one of my 1300 word articles from the site and making that the homepage. Is this worth it for SEO? Or should I just stay patient? |

Not enough info here... is this an authority site (40+ pages) or a niche site... ? On larger sites you would make the home page as a table of contents of sorts but still would want more than 400+ words (think 700+) Smaller sites only have a home page and a couple supporting pages, so for these definitely get the word count up past 400 Make sure to do proper seo, theme the page, bold the keywords, do not repeat the keywords too much... outdo all sites you see ranking on the first page |
