Default Is it wise to use an exact keyword domain with turbulent history

Hello everybody

I did not had any clue about how the history of a domain affects its rankings and I very recently registered an exact keyword domain. I have only published very few posts and now I read in the forums that domains with turbulent history are not the best bet. My domain was registered at least 5 TIMES and dropped if what I am understanding is true. What do you recommend ? Should I keep going or should I drop it and start afresh with a new domain that wasn't registered. It is on the second page for yahoo and bing but way deep in google.

Not only that, Google may start lowering ranking on exact match domain names. Google May Lower Rankings of Keyword Domains #SEWatch

I really don't mind since domain name resellers have jacked up the price on these exact match keyword domains. Google is considering ranking more by brand than keyworded domains.

wow that changes the game up a whole lot. now everyone just thinks that they have to get a good keyword phrase, but if brandables are the future, unique content becomes even more important.

The ranking strength of an exact match domain has been too strong for ages IMHO - not just on Google, but even more so on Bing - so the fact that Google is doing something about it is great. But Google aren't removing the factor or turning it into a negative - they're just reducing it - and because of navigational searches I think it will always be around somewhere in the algorithm.

So I think it's still true that if you're building a brand, go for something short, snappy and memorable, but if you're building for search traffic, you still want a keyword domain.

Domain history and past link history does matter when considering whether to use an old domain or not. But I'd be less worried about the domain being picked up and dropped and picked up and dropped, and more worried about what content was on there previously (check Wayback Machine) and what link profile it has (check Yahoo SiteExplorer / your referrer logs). If it was ever used for dodgy stuff like porn, or if it has loads of spammy links, then it may be worth changing.

But if it's just changed hands a few times, I'd stick with it.

My EMDTLD of .org .net and .com with adsense are still in 1st page rank top 5 mostly. will update everyone though if it will drop rankings since they are very important to me. I earn 1-5$ with each sites daily.
