Default about keywords, content duplication, and internal links

Hi I'm looking at a new niche and need some advice on setting up the layout. Say you want to rank for 3 similar keywords like this:
hair gel
best hair gel
the best hair gel

How would you go about making pages on your site? Would you have three separate pages each having the title shown above with basically the same content on each or would you have one content page and a couple redirects when they click on the other two links? Basically I have a bunch of kws that I want to rank for and don't know how to write unique content for them since they are so similar. I want separate pages I think so that I can backlink them separately .. right? thanks.

When your keywords are that close, I would use the best one as a domain name and the others within the body of your article.

The other option is to register three separate domains.

As far as your pages or posts go I would name them thus:

Hair Gel | Home

Hair Gel | Home Recipes

Hair Gel | Best Buys

There is also an outstanding free traffic getting wordpress plug-in which works wonders for me.

PM me and I will give you the details of where to get it.

In addition to Sandy's excellent advice - the links you get will be important. If you can get links with a range of anchor texts matching your target keywords then that will help you achieve high positions on those terms.

I would personally try to have 3 three separate pages for each of the 3 keywords, providing I can write unique content for each of them. The content for each can have the same ideas and theme, but the content itself must be unique if the pages are going to be on the same domain.

If you cannot possibly write 3 unique content pages for each keyword, make just one page and build links to it using the 3 keywords. It can be difficult to rank the same page for different keywords, but I've done it. It takes longer to do this IMO than to rank 3 different keywords to 3 different pages but it's possible.
