Hi.
I wonder if anyone can help me, not just you Chcky, but anyone.
I have a site that after all the recent Panda-risms, is sitting just off page 1 for lots of my keywords.
I know I need links, but I already have plenty, and most of the sites beating me now are EMDs or variations of EMDs.
My question is, how can I get back onto page 1.
Everything's optimisied, everything's nicely interlinked, and as I say, I have high pr, .gov and .edu links a plenty, I even put videos on my pages, but still no movement, and I can't get off page 2 for search terms I used to boss...

One more thing.
I have several sites selling physical products, and I've noticed a real dip in sales over the last six months, even with sites that sit high on page 1 and used to convert nicely. After hearing a recent news article saying Amazon sales are down 70% year on year, I'm thinking that could be the reason.

Time for a bit of honesty, is anybody else struggling, with conversions?
I suspect this is the recession biting in, as it's Europe and America that make up the bulk of sales, or not sales, as the case may be.

Hi Chucky- After building only two websites, I've bought several website through the WSO offers to keep increasing website production while I am trying to figure out keywords selection. Mostly, I figure it's better to do something to keep moving forward than do nothing. Even when that something is horribly wrong I've found value in the experience. Maybe, buying sites isn't smart, but I knew I did not have a good handle on keywords at that time. This is an awesome thread. Thanks for all the free advice!! I picked up your WSO as well. Both have helped me on my keyword selection. I've started the third site and am glad to have your suggestions to use.

Just bought your WSO, the info is this thread has been a HUGE help and I cant wait to see what’s in your member’s area.

Just a quick few questions regarding amazon affiliate sites -
There are many wordpress themes / plugins that pull in product images/descriptions etc from amazon. They create a page for each product then add an “buy now from amazon” button instead of the standard add to cart. You can have categories etc just like a normal ecommerce site and products within them. This way you can add 100s of amazon products to your site in no time.

• How do you think this compares to having all products on your homepage in terms of conversion/click through rate?
• As pulling in descriptions from amazon creates a duplicate content issue, I will “noindex” these product pages and leave the category pages as follow. Should I “nofollow” the links to product pages too, so we don’t loose any page rank? However, then I will have 100s of internal “noindex,nofollow” pages, which google may not like.

I usually have text links with call to action phrases like 'Go Here Now for More Information' - but is it better than banners/images - I haven't tested!

Adsense vs Amazon - The most difficult thing to do out of everything is getting traffic. Once you have your traffic, depending on the CTR and CPC and conversions and commissions, you need to calculate what will be more profitable for you.

For example, if you're selling a $500 product at 6% commission, and 1% conversion rate you're earning $30 per 100 visitors.

Can you earn the same $30 with Adsense based on the CPC and CTR? I believe that is the analysis you need to do in order to decide which mode of monetization is best!

As for Amazon sales 70% down? Wow! No I didn't feel it, I had a couple of new high price ticket item sites this year so my total revenue was better this year (prior to holiday shopping that is). But then again, it could have been because of that niche and besides I didn't earn a lot on Amazon on a regular month, so it wasn't difficult to beat that.

As for your site being stuck on page 2 - link velocity has helped me get out of it; for example 2-3 links/day for one week and then 3-4/day the next week and so on using quality links that is. Consistency. Then again, if the competition in front of you is super good, it's a different ball game

As for Social Pipes, no I couldn't figure it out properly, I installed it on one site, but didn't think it posted to all the properties and then didn't have time to look at it anymore.

None of my business, but I wouldn't advise you to quit school man!! I've seen so many ups and downs, Amazon banning certain states, Google Pandas etc. etc. I'm not thinking negative, but this really is dynamic and you have to have a plan B to fall back on to if this thing becomes rough. Education is a nice Plan B. In my case, IM is my plan B! Right now I work on both and as a result torture myself too much, at some point I'm going to have to choose one of them, otherwise I'll die before I hit 50! Seriously! But if I choose to quit my education, I will make sure it's up to a certain point so that I can always go back to it should IM get any more rockier!

Hey, thanks for picking up my WSO, I was wondering how I'm getting trickles of sales even when I'm not bumping my WSO.
The only problem with buying sites is that they may not be properly optimized for on-page factors. Proper on-page optimization (and you know it's not the regular kw density and header tags etc. now that you've bought my WSO) makes off page SEO a very easy game. Right now I have a 1 page wordpress site on top 5 without a single backlink. Sure it's very low competition, but still, purely based on on page factors.
If you have the $$, outsource website production and focus on producing quality useful content that people will actually 'LIKE'/SHARE. If people LIKE/SHARE, that's a good indication that your content is good!

This is a numbers game, you cannot have 5 websites and earn 6 figures (except in rare cases). You have to have a bunch!

Hey, thanks for buying the WSO, hope you found good value in there!

I THINK it's OK to do it as long as you organize them properly. For example, if your site is on TVs and you have categories for 32 inch, 40 inch 55 inch etc. and you can drip content to those particular categories (or alternatively brand names) and then organize those links on your homepage. Click here for 55 inch TVs, here for 32 inch TVs etc conversions won't suffer. The fact that you have a lot of products on your site will also help increase the amount of time people spend on your site thus improve the on-page factors helping you increase rankings!

Nofollow noindex issue - I'm sorry man, I haven't done anything like that myself, so I shouldn't give you my opinion which may be highly erroneous. No following link sounds to be OK.

I make more from Amazon than I do ad sense. Based at looking at my various sites, I'd say it depends on how much work I put into them content-wise and backlinking as to how well they do. Amazon does well for me using solid content, not 400 word fluff. Ad sense, I just have less interest in those sites than I do my review sites. That totally reflects it in the earning statements. I can't speak for anyone else's results.

Also, I've found that the options are so extensive for SEO plug-ins that it's sometimes hard to decide just what are the best settings. Could you detail the settings you use on your plugin or, better yet, post a screenshot of your settings?

But I'm quite sure that the mix of Panda and the ongoing financial situation has led to a big downturn in sales at Amazon itself.

It really would be good to hear some honest admissions from other warriors on the subject, because I've seen for myself that several of my less well attended sites have really underperformed, especially since May/June time.

I'm not sure I know the right answer to your question. But think about this, if that is a non-buying kw, would there be adsense ads? unless you rank for the non-commercial kw and drive traffic to a page optimized for a commercial kw. See what I mean?

Hey, great to hear about your 4 figure days! My answer still remains the same, as you can see from my screenshot, no dip for me. I think it depends on the niche you target. The screenshot would have looked even better if there had been snow this year (hint hint) Several #1-3 ranking sites - no snow - no demand - no visitors - no $

I experienced the same with one of my Nintendo sites. I've shared that niche in the past, so I'll be open about it. Last year I made several Ks from this site, but this year it was down to about $500, I believe that's not because people didn't buy video games but because I didn't evolve from Nintendo Wii to Xbox Kinect, which was the hottest selling game this year (out of Nintendo, PS3 and Xbox). OK, yet another 7 figure idea for an action taker!

So I think it must be a niche specific thing!
