I'm sure a LOT of you missed out so...here it is... My personal amazon research method: warriors... here is something ive been doing for a while... although im not going to go over "everything" i will cover a few key points to get you started. Head over to amazon.com... browse any of these cateogories and pick out something you would like to write about/promote. ![]() ![]() Here is what i picked after looking around for a while: ![]() So your niche is "rowing machines" now you need to check out if there is money to be made, i have explained everything in the image itself: ![]() Now that you've gone over keyword research, it time to pick the products you're going to write reviews for: ![]() You also need to check your competition for the chosen keywords... You should have selected at least one primary keyword and then like one secondary keyword for each of your product name so you can rank your inner pages.... I use traffic travis for seo analysis.. but if you have Firefox you could do it for free.... You need to install a Firefox add-on called SEObook (google it) Now lets pick one keyword and analyze your competition: ![]() So its time to see how we can beat the competition... Lets check out our competiton. I will show you how i do it with Traffic travis... I have the pro version i guess you can download a trial version from their site... anyways...here we go:![]() Spend a good amount of time on keyword research, dont make the mistake of ignoring it... If you get your keyword research right, everything else will fall into place. Pick the right battles. SEO is not something that you can learn by going through a few ebooks, its a skill that is best learned "in the field" I wont cover SEO here... but you could look around for some information on the subject. For more i recommend jan's course and paula c's "amazonian profit plan" You will learn a LOT of stuff from both of these courses. I have bought paula c's amazonian profit plan (i didnt know she had a WSO ) but its a great book nonetheless... totally worth it!! It filled up so many gaps.... ![]() Anyways... Hope this helps you out a little bit. Cheers kunal P.S: This was posted by me in the following thread: I think someone should make this to help newbies choose |

Great post. It's amazing how many people overlook keyword research. I guess because it's not glamorous. The reality, is that is where all the money is hiding. If you can get that part right, you have 50% of the battle won.

When you choose match types when using google keyword tool, why do you choose the exact option with the [...]? Are you supposed to use the exact option every time you use Google keyword tool? and what exactly does it do? |

I was teaching a friend keyword research - A total new to the scene guy who knows no HTML and only uses the net for emails, ebay and movies - I had a hell of a time explaining the steps that I was showing him. In your case you went to amazon - found some keywords that amazon themselves suggest (so deff good ones) opened them up - found more then checked the comp - In my case - I had my friend use a tool that I designed ( Its free by the way and in my sig) Even though the tool brings back some great keywords and also checks the search volume it doesnt actually check the competition - So I explained all 3 steps - He understood - but not until he chose 3 keywords which he liked and not what the statistics showed - I opened up his chosen keywords and the search volume was very low - under 50 searches a month - The competition was moderate - SO I went on to explain - should he have optimized for these keywords and not others then his whole efforts would have gone to waste - I also took him through each step and explained them to him I would urge users who are having difficulty in grasping the technique to actually understand each step of the process. Understanding each step will take away the complications you currently face As noted above - get your keyword research right and that will be the start of your success Just my 2 cents guys thanks | |

Nicely done. The red text information over the pictures is a nice touch. Most don't take the time to do that.

After checking out the competition you make it sound like the work is done, while it looks to me the hardest part is not just picking random keywords/products but actually the ranking itself. PR6 with a good amount of backlinks doesn't seem "easily beatable". But you seem very confident so I'd like to hear from you what kind of backlinking service you would recommend to beat a site of this proportion. Thanks! |

Indeed keyword research is one of the most essential parts in IM. I personally use Market Samurai for this kind of stuff, since it uses Google's KW Tool itself and has some additional features that really benefit in not aking any mistakes. Also, like OP mentioned, checking the competition can be easily done for free with Firefox, but I personally found SEOQuake to do the job pretty nicely.

Thank you for posting this, somehow this should be obvious, but as with most obvious things I'm too stupid to see them. You named a lot of tools, do you use them all on a day by day basis? |

Great write up. I have never tried traffic travis before, but I do use market samurai and I love it. It crashes once and a while but it is a small price to pay. Now that amazon does not let affiliates promote in california (where I live) I have stopped my affiliate marketing work with amazon...no point if I am not getting paid. I know there were a lot of affiliates for amazon in CA...sucks that a lot of people got screwed, but I understand why amazon had to do it.
