I've always wanted to get more details on that algorithym... I have an idea tho, do you mention your location at all in the site? And is it ever present? Caleb |

I have came across almost the same exact problem but with google.au I found out that my server is in the US but the ip for my sites is in australia. Im guessing my problem is because of my ip address of my sites, but i am still researching on this. |

And as well, these are two different ranking systems, usually its tied back to the domain name.. For example I rank for a keyword that A LOT of people want to rank for, in Canada... But I don't rank at all in the states. It's totally different search engines that search based on "local reach" Caleb |

Hi Andrew, That happens when Google finds your site more relevant to a particular geography.I don't think that the IP address or server location makes a difference here. If Google finds that your content is more targeted towards a particular geography,it'll give priority to your site in the local search results of that location, your global search rankings may be quite different in that case. |

Backlinks could come from Canadian sites or sites with Canadian hosting and your results will be different from an American using Google.com. Should add your target market to WMT. Contact information plays a role, too. If you have a Canadian address or PH#, it'll help in Google.ca but not Google.com. |

One quick thing to try. Clear your cookies and history and try again. Or if you have chrome run it in 'incognito'. It could be that you are using .ca on your machine and google uses your history etc to return the results you want to see i.e. your site.

If you have your site submitted to google webmaster tools you can set it to target which ever country you want.

They are two different search engines in essence. And you are probably more relevant in Canada than the U.S., because there is less competition in Canada for your keywords. As someone mentioned previously, someone on a .ca probably linked to you. |
