Now I know this may be obvious, but I really have no idea. Does a domain niche site rank higher than a sub-domain niche site? I guess its common sense that it would because its establishing itself individually, but I just started writing a niche site and I would like to know if I'm making a huge mistake by attaching to to one of the domains I already own. Will Google Rank me lower? Thanks a ton.. |

It really all depends on your objectives and reasons for doing what you are doing. I actually wrote an article about subdomains vs subdirectories. You might find it useful - Subdomains vs Subdirectories - What is best for SEO | SEOmistry |

It depends on the quality of your content. However, I found it is much easier for me to rank with a new domain rather than a subdomain as I can use keyword for the new domain. One domain I recently created with my keyword get good traffic without doing much promotion.

If you do the same type of good things, the subdomain is just as good. Heck, www. is a subdomain when you get right down to it. Just do a search for internet marketing forum. I'll bet you get something like forums.digitalpoint.com to show up. Do a search for college basketball. I'll bet you get espn.go.com as a top site. Or sportsillustrated.cnn.com. Easy is as easy does. paul |
