Default Are nofollow edu and gov backlinks valuable?

Or are they just a waste of time because they are nofollow?

I think they still add some juice to SEO as now a days a majority of the blogs and forums are nofollow to prevent spam.

They are still valuable in terms of it being a link. You have to remember, a link is still a link, which will get you traffic. Also, there are indications that nofollow links still can affect you in the SERPs.

Are edu and gov links more valuable than normal, or are they just the same as a standard link from a apge with no pagerank?

There are a lot of myths put around about EDU and Gov Urls but the plain truth is they are more valuable than conventional .coms due to the fact that they are deemed to be authority links from Authority domains.

The rationale behind this lies with the understanding of the Blog Owners. Conventional Blog Owners are more "flexible" in relation to the way they relate to folks on the Net whereas the Blog owner behind the EDU or Gov tends to be more concerned with the content on their blog and how their blog is perceived by other Academics etc etc.

There is a longer more detailed explantion but I don't exactly want to bore people here with it but the nature of the domain carries much more weight and probably will do for the next 12 months or so.

We have a database of thousands of EDU (genuine EDU and not .edu.something else etc) and .Govs that we are proofing at the moment and we've learned loads about how they work, what makes them tick and what buttons to press.

Anyone want to find out more then PM me off list?

In my concern, edu and gov are more authoritative backlinks comparing to normal backlinks. Even it is no follow it is valuable.
