I thought google is strict and I am surprised when I found a link redirected to a company. The redirected URL/domain is the one that is listed in Google places and not the actual company URL... any thoughts on this? |

On and off I find people that are successfully gaming Google places. People will continually try and exploit the flaws in the system. If it's your account log in and fix it. If not then don't worry about it. Google doesn't want to hear from the average person and has made it nearly impossible to report these kinds of problems. |

| You mean that the other company's website is set as the company's website, or there is just a back link in the "more about this place"? If it's the first case, you could just fix it manually. If it is the second case - you have to be happy that you've got it. Usually such things would happen if the names of two companies are very similar. Sometimes even reviews would "jump" to the place page of someone else.

Example: In one case they originally had a city + KW domain they were using on their site and Place page. Then decided to change their main domain and just forwarded the city + KW domain. But never thought to change it in Google. It's NOT a good practice since G does not like re-directs but if it's not a DISHONEST re-direct taking you to a totally diff site or a competitor then I'm not sure G penalizes for it. Not that I've seen so far. | |
