Default How to salvage a failed sniper site

Hi everyone,

I recently bought George Brown's "Google Sniper 2", and I was very excited to try it out. It made a lot of sense to me, and I was excited because I could actually do all the stuff it talked about.

I thought I did everything right: I found a good keyword with low competition, but my position in google just keeps sliding lower and lower.

I thought since the competition that shows up when I type in my keyword did not literally contain my exact words in the exact order, that claiming the number one spot would be easy, but I see now there is more to it.

Can anyone tell me how to make my site show up better in google?

Thanks!
- Pete

Ok a few factors to think about. How old is the site? New sites jump around when they are new so don't worry if yours is.

Is it well optimized for on-page? Do you have quality backlinks going to it. In a nutshell this is all you need to do to rank well in Google. The trick is to keep working on it and to give it some time. It can sometimes take a few months to start ranking well.

The only 2 things that really matter with seo is:

1) authority backlinks (with keyword anchor-text If possible)

2) on-page seo

So many people start building links then just give up! Build links every day until you have more authority than your competitor. Use Open Site Explorer: Link Popularity & Backlink Analysis Tool To see how strong your main competition is. Once you beat that, keep building until you overtake them. It can take months at a time, just be patient and you'll do good!

Unfortunately George has sent a few people down the river with his competition guidelines, G Sniper is a great product but what he teaches is a sure fire way to waste a lot of time.

If your not building links your not going to rank, simple as that.

It is easy to portray a "no backlinking system" if you build a lot of sites and no exactly what you're looking for but most beginners don't. Typically for every 50 I've built 1 has got to high page 1 positions without backlinks. It is just the law of averages, no set system there.

You'll want to stick your keyword through Traffic Travis to see what you're up against, competing pages means absolutely nothing. It is all about the links.

As for failing sniper sites, you get them, some more than others. There are always winners and losers.

I'd focus on getting to the stage where building a few losers makes no difference to you at all, this will take some time but as someone above said you need to patient. There is a huge reward to be had in IM if you are prepared to sit in for a little while and watch the days go by...

Thanks Everyone.

This was an eye opener for sure!

I'll defintely be doing a lot more research before investing time in my next site, and investing a lot more time into the one I've got.

Now that I have a better idea of what I'm up against I see I have my work cut out for me!
