SERP Breadcrumb Trick

I thought I would post a little trick how to get your category url breadcrumb added to the bottom of your Google SERP listing (see screenshot below).

This trick is actually pretty simple, it works by having a set of URLs (breadcrumbs) on each of your pages. In the screenshot example it would look something like this, use your own URLs & anchor-text.

www.java2s.com › JavaScript Reference › Javascript Objects

Most of the time you'll find this type of link at the top of the page, someplace around the post title.

I run my sites structure like this, Index page > Category Page > Post page. I get similar links on almost all my Google SERPs like the screenshot above.

This is very simple & anyone can do this, you might give it a week or two to update the majority of your SERP listings.

Also note, the text inside the red box (screenshot above) are actual hyperlinks that can be clicked on by someone doing a Google search, the more clickable links in a SERP listing, the better.

I just found this Google link, the microdata bit is major overkill for breadcrumbs. Still they have a good example of similar url structure that I use on my Wordpress sites.

I recalled once Vita Vee mentioned something about using categories in your link structure, something which I completely forgotten to do for my review sites.

Anyways I have a Question, what about listings like in the warrior forum


How do we achieve something like this?

I'm not sure on that one. Looks like it's pulling those links from the the category (adsense forum), I see all the dates are in order.

I also noticed WF is running 2 breadcrumbs on most pages.

Follow this tutorial, does the same thing.

The only thing I would change in the tutorial is, put the breadcrumb/wp-code inside a <div> tag.

Your welcome, try it out, it's very easy to add the category below your SERP description.

It won't show in the SERPs until Google crawls your pages again.

It doesn't look to me like you explained how this is done in that thread, or maybe the blue text was meant to explain it, and I didn't understand it.

I'll try to explain a little more.

1) You place internal links on your page with anchor-text that show the full path of the URL.

Example, I have a web page at hxxp://www.domain.com/vehicle-parts/truck-tires/

2) My web page /truck-tires/ will have this full path as anchor-text at the top of the web page, like this.

[notice the urls when you mouse over the links below]
Home > Vehicle Parts > Truck Tires


3) When you do this tweak, your Google Serp description/URL should get updated with multiple extra hyperlinks in the search pages on Google, after Google crawls the updated web page with the new breadcrumb.




Here (green box in screenshot below) is another example of how the Warrior forum has their breadcrumb URLs setup, same thing as I'm trying to explain in this thread.

So what I think I am learning here is that you put links on your own site, just like you would on any other site if you had access to it. I will get good link juice from doing this.

If this works as you say it does, and I assume it does, I am amazed. Who ever thought up this. I would have never thought of it in a million years.
